Big Blox gets off to a good start with the introduction screen promising up to 3,888x your stake from a single spin. Sound's like my kind of game right off the bat and I've loved the vast majority of Yggdrasil games I have tried so my appetite was thoroughly whet to give this one a try!
It's a 243 ways game with some similarities to NetEnt's "Twin Spin" and also a somewhat similar mechanic to Thunderkick's "Zoom" - every spin will feature a single "Big Block", ranging in size from the very common 2x2 right up to the apparently possible 5x3 or full screen. That 3888x bet the game taunts you with when you first load it up is awarded for a full screen of the top "red face" symbol (or a monster full screen wild which pays the same as it doesn't have it's own paytable allocation) but as you'd expect you'll have a long wait before ever seeing a full screen of anything - the largest Big Block I have seen so far after a couple of thousand spins was just 3x3 and I wanted to scream when it appeared on the right hand side of the reels awarding me a big fat zero!
Still, the paytable is reasonably decent for a 243 ways game and I did get quite a few 3x2 and 2x3 blocks that awarded higher winnings than I had been expecting and I quickly found myself hooked on this game, desperately hoping to see one of the monster big blocks shown in the games introductory sequence. I like the graphics too, it's very funky and original and the tribal sounding background music didn't drive me crazy within minutes either which is a common complaint of mine with endless slot machine backing loops.
I expect this game will be another big hit for Yggdrasil, if only they can get their games spread around just a little more - the situation is certainly far better than it was a year ago though and I'm able to play these games at quite a few of my favourite casinos now so I'm sure they have things under control!
