The Groovy Sixties is a vibrant 40-payline video slot operating on the NetEnt software platform. The game evokes the hippie era with its colourful signs, flower designs and lava lamps, but the symbols to watch out for the most are the 60’s Wild and the scatter featuring a Girl. Players can try the slot on this page for free or opt for any of the listed NetEnt casinos to play the game for real money.
To travel back to the bubbly 1960’s, players should regulate their bet first. The bet level is set by clicking "Bet Level". The coin value ranges from 0.01 to 0.5 and it is adjusted by clicking on the "Coin Value" button. “Bet Lines” allows players to alter the number of paylines played. “Spin” starts the game, “Max Bet” spins the reels at the highest bet and “Auto” turns them multiple times uninterrupted.
3 scatters will activate 5 Free Spins and pay the amount of one’s total bet at x2. During the Free Spin round, if another 3 scatter symbols appear, 5 additional Free Spins will be awarded.
If 5 60’s Wild symbols appear on an active payline, a jackpot of 1,000 coins will be won.

The Groovy Sixties is the first of three identical games from NetEnt, the other two being The Funky Seventies and The Super Eighties. All three games share identical game design, concept and paytable - the only variation lies in the icons used in each game, reflecting the relevant era of their time. One look at that flowery Volkswagen and you would already know that this game is in that groovy hippies era, and looking at those TV, tape recorder and whatnots brought back nostalgic memories for me, hehehe.
Honestly speaking, this game doesn't look like it belongs to NetEnt, or even came from NetEnt, because the quality of the graphics have much to be desired, unlike the usual games from NetEnt. But that's not that important anyway, simply because excellent graphics do not make an excellent game, and vice versa. Nonetheless, I wasn't impressed at all with this game, for various other reasons, the most important being the paytable with its very low win values for all the symbols. Again, this is not typical of old NetEnt games, which usually have much better win values. A 1000x line bet win for getting 5 Wilds, for example, is certainly way below the usual 5000x and 10,000x value, so this was a big turn-off for me.
The Free Spins feature is also a big let-down to me, offering only 5 free spins with a 2x multiplier. Whatever happened to the usual 15 free spins with a 3x multiplier? This offer is only 30% as good, or even less! Okay, so I guess the game designers had compensated this loss with lots of stacked Wild symbols on the reels, reminding me of Microgaming's games that relied heavily on those Wild stacks for good wins. Yes, those Wild stacks did produce many wins in this Groovy Sixties game, but none of them ever broke the 100x bet win for me, and that was utterly disappointing! Not only that, I found that this game was a lot harder to get any Free Spins game than the other two identical games, so The Groovy Sixties game was the worst of the three, in my own personal opinion of course.
