The Finer Reels of Life is 5 reels and 243 pay-lines video slot powered by Microgaming software. This slot’s theme revolves around the luxury lifestyle. The reels are set against the background with the pool and burning candles, whereas the reels themselves seem to be set in the wooden frame. Also, there is a soothing and sophisticated music playing in the background. Give this slot a spin here for free or visit Microgaming Casinos to play for real money.
Before you go indulge in the perks of luxury you need to set your bets. By clicking on "Bet" a drop down will open offering you to set the number of coins per line and coins size. "Coins size" sets coins denomination which ranges from 0.01 to 0.05, and "Coins" adjusts the number of coins per line. "Autoplay" will start turning the reels automatically without interruption for a chosen number of times, and "Spin" will set the reels in motion.
This extravagant video slot has many features to offer. With that being said, let us see what you can encounter while playing this slot. This slot has a Wild symbol, a Scatter, Wild Celebration feature, and Finer Features.
The Wild symbol in the game is the game logo and it can substitute for all symbols except for the scatter. Furthermore, all winning combos created with the Wild symbol are going to be doubled.
The Scatter symbol in the game is a golden five pointed star. Scatter wins are multiplied by total bet staked. When you hit 3 or more golden star symbols anywhere on the reels you will be awarded with the entry into the Fine Features bonus. Multiple entries into Finer Features will sequentially unlock further bonus features.
Wild Celebration feature is randomly triggered, and it occurs during base game. Once it strikes it will turn up to 5 reels wild. The longer you play the bigger the chances are that you will hit this bonus feature.
When you activate Finer Features with 3 or more stars you will gain entry into this bonus game. Here, you will get to choose between 4 different games: Coffee and Chocolate, Wine and Cheese, Whisky and Cigars and Champagne and Diamonds.
Coffee and Chocolate game will give you 10 free spins and x5 multiplier. I’ve seen many screenshots from this game posted on internet forums, with massive wins on the screen – It really seems to be very popular with a great many slot players, and so despite it being “just another 243 ways Microgaming slot”, I felt compelled to give it a try. I was truly shocked, and very disappointed, to see just how much of a re-badging it actually is.
This is really just the same game as “Immortal Romance” albeit with a different style of graphics. Almost everything is the same, from the randomly triggered “Wild Celebration” (AKA “Wild Desire”) to the “Finer Features” area which is opened after hitting three or more scatters, which offers four choices which are identical in function to those offered by “Immortal Romance”.
I really don’t see the point in doing stuff like this, unless the idea was to create a slot to appeal to posh folk, on the assumption such people would not be interested in a game themed after American vampire movie trash (I can’t be the only one who thought “Immortal Romance” was a very thinly veiled ripoff of “The Twilight Saga” surely can I???)
I also notice that the payouts seem a little worse in this game – looking at the paytable it seems that the top symbols have been given slightly higher payouts, whilst those at the bottom end have been tightened up a little – Immortal Romance was already a very high variance game, and this can only serve to make The Finer Reels of Life even more so – I do quite like this, as I am a big fan of high variance slots, although it does make me laugh that they copy the entire concept of their earlier successful game and make these ridiculously small changes, swap out the graphics, and call it there latest big release. It’s just lazy in my opinion.
Still, Immortal Romance was a great game, and so of course TFROL is also a great game. I would probably even say I’d prefer to play this game over it’s older cousin, but nevertheless, I would desperately love to see Microgaming start using some of the ingenuity and innovation in their slot machine designs that NetEnt continue to offer – MG definitely have the edge when it comes to the paytables, and it would just be amazing to see them come out with some truly inventive and original slot games right now. Heres hoping!
