I've never been much of a fan for any Dragon games, I don't know why really. I guess the games that I have come across so far have not been able to have a good impression on me. Either the graphics were of low quality, the paytable doesn't provide for good wins, or maybe simply because the games don't play that well, not to my liking anyway. Even the newer Dragon games, with much better graphics and gameplay, have yet to impress me enough to make me play them more regularly. I've seen some players getting good wins on a few of the newer games, like Dragon's Island, for example, but my few plays on the game hasn't been good at all for me.
This Dragon Master is an oldie from WGS, with 25 paylines, as opposed to NextGen's version with only 20 paylines. This reminds me of the similarities between Playtech's 20-paylines Dolphin Reef and the other versions of the same game but with 25 paylines instead. My preference has always been for the 20-paylines version, simply because of the lesser bet per spin required for the same amount of payouts. That's a difference of $0.05 for every spin. May not sound a lot, but over the years of playing it, the difference can be quite substantial. But of course, some players may not even be bothered by this minute difference as they can afford it, but certainly not for me. Every cent counts! Hehehe.
The Dragon Slayer is the Wild symbol, paying 4000x the line bet for 5 of him, doubling all wins with it, and substituting other symbols except for the Scatter symbol. The Green Orb is the Scatter symbol, paying the usual 100x the total bet for 5 of them. Getting 3 or more of these Orbs trigger the Free Spins game of 10 free spins with all wins doubled. Hmm, that's not a lot and are usually hardly enough to produce nice big wins. Nonetheless, more Free Spins games can be retriggered, if you can get them. I never did get any. During the Free Spins game, the Dragon may fly across the reels randomly and may transform some symbols into Wild symbols. I said 'may' because at times, the dragon may fly across without transforming anything. Why bother to fly across the reels and not transforming a few symbols into Wild symbols, I really cannot reasoned out. Might as well not fly across in the first place, rather than giving false hopes to players. Furthermore, not every one of the transformed Wild symbol would pay anyway.
As for the symbols in the game, the Chest pays 1000x, the Dragon 250x, the Scroll and the Maze both paying 200x, whilst the lower symbols pay from 150x to 100x, all per line bet for 5 of each kind, making the paytable more on the low side. Since the Free Spins game only doubles all wins, trying to get huge wins may be impossible. Getting 5 Wilds in the Free Spins game, for example, would only pay 160x the total bet multiplied by 2, and that's only 320x the total bet maximum win possible. Not a lot at all for getting 5 Wilds on a payline during the free spins, is it?
My few plays on this Dragon Master game have yet to give me any win. The Free Spins game were mostly dull and boring, the dragon flying across the reels doesn't provide any thrilling Wild wins, only small mediocre ones most of the time, with wins of less than 20x my bet amount. Nope, sorry to say, but I don't like it at all. Dragon Master could not impress me as yet.
