Booming games are still relatively unknown in the world of online gaming, a point that is adequately demonstrated by the fact that none of their games seem to have garnered a single review as yet here at AskGamblers. The developer has only been creating games for a couple of years but has already built up a library of over fifty games, many of which are beautifully presented. I still don't think the graphics are quite up to the standards of Microgaming or NetEnt, but this does seem to be a developer with plenty of potential of the future.
I like the fact that the centre reel contains only wild and scatter symbols, but it didn't seem as beneficial as I expected during real-world play. Hitting four or more of the cat face symbol enables paying both ways for the following ten spins, which is a huge plus and makes it much easier to score a win.
Thirty pay lines doesn't seem like nearly enough for seven reels, and I found this game delivered a tonne of dead spins as a result of this. When the pay-both-ways mode is active then things improve dramatically, but it is very frustrating that the pay-both-ways mechanic is paused when you hit the free spins feature. Instead of both of these features operating simultaneously your remaining both-ways spins are played out after the conclusion of your free spins, which seems very tight.
I was expecting some huge wins to be on the paytable for the seven-of-a-kind combinations, but sadly only the wild symbol offers a payout worth getting excited about. A full line of wilds returns 333x your stake, and if you hit this with a full stack of wilds on the centre reel you can potentially win a tidy 1,000x your total bet. Add in the both ways feature and you have a maximum jackpot spin of 2,000x stake, but it feels pretty boring having only one symbol with a decent payout.
I really feel like Booming Games missed an opportunity with this slot, there are some great ideas here but the seven reel layout hides the fact that in reality this is a very low variance game. I also didn't like the fact that you are forced to bet at least 0.03 on each line, as there doesn't seem any logical reason not to let low rollers play a penny a line if they wish. Overall this game is worth a try, but it's ultimately forgettable.
