Smoking Pistols is a 6-reel slot from Booming Games with a cowboy theme where you can win a maximum amount of 5000x your bet. The game has 8 premium symbols that pay from 5x to 0.80x your bet on 6 of a 6-of-a-kind win. A, K, Q, and J are minor symbols, and all of them pay 0.40x your bet. The spin starts with 4 rows and 4096 ways, and connecting 3 or more similar symbols from the leftmost reel adds a new row. After the first connection, you get 5 rows and 15625 ways, and the second connection adds another row, giving you 6 rows and 46656 ways. The third connection gives you 7 rows and 117649 ways to pay, and finally the eighth row gets added on your fourth connection, giving you 262144 ways to pay.
The base game has multiple features, and they can help you get a win and even win a bonus. The charged wild feature starts at the start of a spin and can have multiple wilds inside it. If it has three wilds, then it will stay on the screen until it's part of three connections and then get removed. The multiplier wild lands at the start of a spin too and can have multiplier values of 2x, 3x, 4x, or 10. The best part is that if you have more than one multiplier wild, then the value of wilds is multiplied. The random wild can add anywhere from 1 to 10 wilds to enhance your wins. My favorite feature is the replicating wild feature, which has a compass symbol on it. Every time the wild lands, it will spin a compass and move in the direction of the needle, creating one to 5 wilds. The wild will leave a trail after every cascade as long as there are no wins. If you land two scatters, or during any non-winning spin, you can land the second chance feature, which will destroy an entire row to give you a chance to hit a win or feature.
Landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 scatters wins you 10,15, 20, and 25 free spins. You can also buy the bonus by paying an amount of 70x the base bet.
You must be wondering why I haven’t reviewed the bonus game. Well, sadly, the worst part of the game is the bonus itself. While I was playing the base game, I was so excited about Booming Games creating such a revolutionary game with so many features, and the free spins are going to be even better. I have played similar slots from Elk Gaming, and in those games, when you make an upgrade during bonus, it stays. Here, it resets back to the 4096 ways even after you unlock the highest level. Playing the bonus game is just like playing the base game. Yes, you do get a few features, but there is a huge difference in getting them on 4096 ways versus 262144 ways.
This game shows huge potential in the base game but sadly ends up delivering nothing in the bonus game.
