Rival games too have a treasure hunter like Gonzo and Jungle Jim, searching for the lost of treasures of El-Dorado, but in Rival's case, they named him Johnny Jungle, and the lost treasure, the Hidden Temple. Hmm, whatever. This is a relatively new game from Rival, playing with 25 paylines, and with an overall greenish hue in its presentation, in tune with its jungle theme of course. The quality of graphics is nice, but it certainly lacks vibrancy.
Johnny is the Wild symbol in the game, paying 1000x the line bet for 5 of him (40x total bet). It double all wins with it, but doesn't expand into a full Wild Reel. However, during the Free Spins game, it becomes sticky for just one respin, but only in winning combinations. No win no sticky! What the argh! That really sucks, and the damn poor payouts attest to that! The Gorilla is the Scatter symbol, a non-paying symbol unfortunately, and getting 3, 4 or 5 of them awards 10, 15 or 30 free spins, without any multiplier and without any retrigger possibility! That, to me, is simply awful! What can anyone expect to win from the free spins when the Wild only sticks for 1 respin with a win, with no other multipliers, and with no retriggers? Practically peanuts!
The Idol, looking like a Gold Coin, is the Bonus symbol. Get 5 of them to win 25x line bet. Sheesh! Getting 3 or more of these Bonus symbols award a 'Pick and Win' feature - pick one of them to win a miserly cash prize of up to 15x total bet amount, which is yet another damn low winning opportunity! The other symbols pay from 500x down to 15x line bet for any 5 of them, making the paytable a very low one indeed.
From that paytable alone, I was able to judge the sort of play and pay this Johnny Jungle game would give. True enough, after giving it several separate plays, after many hours on the game, most of the payouts were below 20x total bet amount, even from the free spins! The best win that I got, by getting a few of those sticky Wild symbols in one of the free spins, was a mere 36x! That is way way below satisfactory level - so disappointing that I actually wanted to rate this game with only 1 Star, but gave it 2 Stars nonetheless. 1-Star or 2-Stars, this game is best avoided! Don't waste your time and money on Johnny Jungle - any other 'bad' game would still play and pay better than this game!
