Irish Luck Review - Editor's Impressions

Lush green fields, rainbows, pots of gold, and of course leprechauns adorn Playtech's Irish Luck. With Wild and Scatter symbols, Free Spins and multipliers, you have plenty to keep you entertained.

You can choose how many paylines to bet on, although to stand a chance of hitting the max win you’ll need to activate all 30 lines.

Originally released in 2009, Irish Luck has a max win of 10,000x which is still pretty decent compared to modern slots. The bigger prizes eluded us though, during our review - you'll need to bring your own luck!

Read our Irish Luck slot review for all the information you need to play this happy-go-lucky game.

Overview of Irish Luck Game

Irish Luck is a five-reel video slot from Playtech which offers up to 30 paylines in a standard 5x3 layout.

As well as choosing what to bet per payline, you can also choose the number of paylines available. With a minimum bet per payline of £0.01, and a maximum of £1, your total bet can range from £0.01 to £30.

The lower paying symbols go from 9 up to A. The special symbols are all Irish, or luck themed, and include a four-leafed clover, a harp, and a golden horseshoe.

The Scatter symbol is a pot of gold, and a beautiful redhead is the game's Wild logo. Most symbols pay out for three matches, but you only need two of the horseshoe, the silver Claddagh ring, or the 9.

Irish Luck RTP, Payout and Volatility

The Irish Luck RTP is 94.25%, which is not the highest. Volatility is medium-high. This RTP is not as high as for Great Blue, also from Playtech, which is basically the same game with different graphics.

The card symbols pay between 2x and 150x the stake. The special symbols pay between 2x and 750x, if you get five rings or five horseshoes. Winning combinations which include a Wild get a 2x multiplier.

The maximum win in Irish Luck is 10,000x, which you'll get if you can land five of the Irish ladies.

Irish Luck Graphics and Gaming Experience

The visuals are very much what you would expect from a game called Irish Luck. The reels are set against a green field, with a rainbow passing overhead in a cloudy sky. The playful music is not too invasive, and also exactly as you expect from the theme- heavy on the fiddle and the flute.

Irish Luck is one of Playtech's older online slots, so the graphics are nothing special, but despite this, it does work well on mobile devices.

Irish Luck Bonus Features

The bonus features in Irish Luck centre around the Wild logo: the red-haired woman, and the Scatter symbol: the pot of gold.

The Wild logo can substitute any symbol, except for the Scatter. This gives you a much higher chance of winning, and what's more, wins through the Wild logo are doubled.

Land three of the Scatter symbols and you get to eight Free Spins, a 2x multiplier, and you get to enter the bonus game. The leprechaun will announce the bonus game, and bring you pots of gold to choose from. You get to choose two, and can win Free Spins and multipliers.

If you want to test how the bonuses work before playing, then check out the demo.

Irish Luck Free Spins

Your Free Spins will automatically have a 2x multiplier, with the potential to win more in the bonus game. You can win up to 33 Free Spins in the bonus game, and up to a 15x multiplier.

In the Free Spins, if you find three more Scatter symbols you'll win another 15 spins. In theory, Free Spins can be retriggered multiple times, although we found the pots of gold pretty difficult to come by.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Playing Irish Luck?

Irish Luck is a slot with a classic format, which doesn't take itself too seriously. It's easy to get into, and like most slots, has some strengths and weaknesses. Take a peek at our pros and cons list below to find out more.

  • Choice of how many lines to use allows for great flexibility of bets
  • Bonus game offers a lot of action
  • Theme is playful and fun

  • Triggering the bonus game is very difficult
  • RTP isn't the highest

Where to Play Irish Luck Online

If you're ready to play Irish Luck for real money, all of our online slots reviews have a list of casinos where you can play this, along with many other Playtech games. Stake Casino is our Irish Luck online casino of choice.

Summary of Irish Luck - Do you have the Luck o' the Irish?

Enjoy a trip to the Emerald Isle with the online Irish Luck slot machine. The fun graphics and music make this slot an entertaining experience and one of the top slots online when it comes to older games.

That said, it's not the newest game, and neither the graphics nor the gameplay are anything spectacular. Irish luck should be considered more of a solid way to enjoy classic slots, rather than anything revolutionary that you can't miss out on.

The bonuses allow for some monster wins, but they don’t come around too often, as you can see from the game's volatility. You can see how it all works with the demo.

Try out your luck if you fancy, and you might just find the pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow.

I’ve been playing Playtech slots for over 2 decades now, but any game that is themed on anything Irish has always eluded me from getting any good wins. Don’t know why, but that’s how things have been with me all this while, and including nowadays too. Nonetheless, this Irish Luck game is the same as two other games that I know of, namely Great Blue and Penguin Vacation, both being very popular games back in their earlier days.

Being an Irish themed game, the symbols in play are all Irish...the Lady, the Leprechaun, the Pot of Gold, the Harp and the Clover leaf. The Lady replaces the Whale (Great Blue) as the Wild symbol, whilst the Pot of Gold replaces the Pearl Scatter symbol. Everything else is just about identical, in terms of symbols win values, game features and payout potentials. The Lady is a stacked Wild symbol and can appear on any reel, so getting all 5 reels of her is also possible, although it is now probably impossible to get, as in Great Blue and Penguin Vacation. The good old times of getting 5 full Wild reels have since gone for good!

Getting 3 or more of the Pots of Gold would award the free spins feature game. Pick 3 out of the 5 Pots to determine the number of additional free spins to be added to the awarded 8 free spins, plus an additional win multiplier or multipliers to the awarded x2. Maximum combination is 8 free spins with a x15 multiplier, or 33 free spins with a x2 multiplier. Multipliers can either be x2, x7, x8, x10 or x15. Whichever combination you may get for the free spins feature game, luck plays an important role in the final payout. Most wins would be mediocre to low, and the nice huge wins are very very hard to get indeed, if you don’t already know.

Personally, between the three similar games, I like Great Blue more than the other two, although not any of them has ever given me a mega win of 1000x or more. Perhaps these three games are not meant for me, or perhaps their volatility is much too high for my way of playing. Anyhow, these three are good games with good potentials for big wins.
