Grandma's Attic was one of the first games from Rival software that I tried a long time ago. I really liked the name and design of this game but at that time I somehow couldn't get any decent winnings on this game. Lately I've been playing this slot more and found that there is a decent winning potential.

Design is inspired by Grandma theme, in my opinion. When I first saw it I saw some references from my childhood, old couch, ancient jewelry, I think everyone can see something different in these symbols. Anyways, the color scheme is very bright yet friendly for the eyes. Design wise this game has always been one of my favorite from Rival.

The game itself has 5 reels and 15 paylines, so you can bet as little as 15 cents for a spin. This slot has a wild symbol and also it has free spins bonus and a bonus round, they both are triggered the same way- when you get 3 bonus or scatter symbols anywhere on screen. I have to say I think both of these features are great. Recently I spent a long session with this slot and received even more than 100x bet size win, which usually is hard for me on Rival slots. For 3 scatters you get 10 free spins 3x multiplied, but for 3 or more bonus symbols you get bonus round where you pick chests and they contain coin winnings.

Usually I am not a fan of bonuses like this, where you have to pick things, just because rarely I win more there than on free spins, however, this game is different. In this bonus I usually get 40x bet win or even more, because after you pick one chest, if it has a key, you can continue to pick and the coin winnings are summed together. Also what is great is that you can trigger this during free spins as well and I did that and received overall more than 100x bet win.

Overall I think this is a great game and should be tried, especially it is a decent fit for wagering bonuses. I have to say that it's really hard to get a decent win on base game, but the winnings on bonus rounds can be quite good. Both features are fun and exciting too, so I never get bored while playing this slot.

What I don't like about this game is that if you get even more than 3 scatters, there is no bigger amount of free spins or higher multiplier, in my last session I got 4 scatters and still played 10 free spins.

Maybe I can go wrong with that theory but I still suppose that guys at Rival ran out of any idea for the next slot game and they felt giving to product the name of Grandma’s Attic make them available to apply those symbols to the game that have absolutely no common ground. We can see rat, armchair, all kinds of fruits (purple pineapple???), necklace or skeleton. I’m very open to play for strange games but I still don’t know how they thought that mixing these very unfitting icons was going to work and even it was able to attract players. This kind of lack of being imaginative is not too fortunate thing and doesn’t send a positive message to their customers. Stepping over this shocking thing the graphics of the game is not too high quality and maybe the color usage is the only thing that I can appreciate here but overall I haven’t got good opinion about the interface of this slot.

Fortunately, the game segment offers some much better features which can compensate for me the previously mentioned disappointment. The slot’s prize is 7500 coins which can be collected after getting 5 Skeleton symbols on an active payline. This creepy icon also serves the game as substituting emblem and even can double the wins if they need it to be completed which quite frequently happens.

The slot is working with two Scatters from which one takes the responsibility to trigger 10 free spins where all wins are counted by tripled value and the other activates the game’s bonus round. Both Scatters have paying ability up to 50 times of total bet. The free spins segment brings the expected Rival quality and some of runs there really could surprise us with great rewards and I’ve experienced that winning combinations show themselves there more frequently and even the better paying symbols can form 5 of a kind type wins. If I can recall precisely once I could win during this extra around €230 when first I got a full clean win with Necklaces then 3 Wilds appeared on the first three reels and that spin alone was worth almost €100. Even if it was just a one-time success but generally this side game is well-paying and not rare when I got back for my €1.5 bet around €40-€60 or even more especially if Wilds tend to appear when all wins with it is multiplied by x6 (x3 for free spins and x2 because of Wild) so playing at this stake if we get a five of a kind win there for example with Rats when Wild is involved that single combination is worth €120.

The traditional bonus consists of a simple ‘pick me’ style side game where we must select from 6 chests and every successful selection reveals bonus credits and may reward a key which can be used to open another chests. At the end the collected bonus points are multiplied by the used coin denomination at the triggering bet. It’s not an interesting sided game but profitable enough (opening 2-3 chest may mean a win around €100) to be worth to wait for and doing this you have to have patience as this extra session doesn’t want to be triggered too many times and I could play sessions without getting any entry to it.

I’m in trouble when I get to conclusion as there are two totally different parts of the game. I dislike the interface of the game and all of its visual qualities and normally it would be enough for me to never return to this slot if… and this if really means something because the game segment and its paying ability is very great and more than correct. I never got any unacceptable long cold streaks and even the base game could give some nice winnings but the real deal is the free spin feature with is potential x6 multiplier and even the bonus can give something big win. So this is my only reason to play here in the feature and until the game will reward me what I could be satisfied with I must live together with its appearance and who knows maybe with time I will get used to it.

Grandma's Attic , the name itself suggests the theme of the slot. I am not a big fan of Rival software but when i got a no deposit of $30 , i could not resist myself playing on one. The casino was Royal Ruby and when i got the bonus, i started looking at slots which the casino offered. I found this slot named Grandma's Attic which sounded interesting to me and i decided to play on this slot. The slot began with a small animation where a kid opens the attic and discovers secrets inside it.

Now that was talking general talks about the slot but the real purpose of slot is to give good returns to the player. The slot has 15 pay lines and 5 reels but the returns are very average. I would say this slot ruined the image of rivals in my opinion. I started playing at a bet of $0.75 per spin and soon was left with $15 in no time.Before starting to play , i checked the paytable which said this slot had a free spin round as well as bonus round but i was not able to activate even one of them. When i had about $10 i decided to reduce the bet a bit and dropped it to $0.15 per spin so that i would have enough play time to at least activate one of bonus game or free spin round. But my balance was reducing rapidly and i remember there was a single big win of $6 when i four crown symbols on the reels but apart from that no significant wins.

Although all the 15 pay lines were activated but the returns from the base game were terrible. Now i lost all my money on this slot but i could not comment on the returns on the bonus games until i had activated the bonus round so i started the slot in fun play. Now i increased the bet to $1.5 and started spinning a couple of spins later i got 3 scatters giving me 10 free spins with a multiplier of 3 which paid me $38 which is almost 25X my bet. I continued to play to activate other bonus round but eventually i was not able to do so even after 100 spins or so but i got a couple of times 2 wilds ( Skeleton ) on consecutive reels 2 and 3 giving me $40 and something like $61 which led to a slight increase in my interest on this slot.

But overall i still feel that returns are very average from slot. So overall i would give a rating of 6 out 10 to this slot with average graphics and returns.
