I've been playing this game many times, with no deposit bonuses and real money deposits but I just can't seem to win anything at all. I love the thought that is put into design though. It is inspired by the old fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel when a brother and sister walks into a witches house, made out of candy. The design and symbols have been displayed in a good way and I like the looks overall.

The minimum bet for this slot is 0.20€ and I usually don't play with higher bets than that. Other than the free spins, there's also a bonus round and it is usually easy to trigger. It's triggered by 3 or more cage symbols, than the boy will need to catch as many candies as he can, with his mouth, and it's not really easy because most of the candies strike against his teeth and don't count. Bonus ends with coin winnings and mostly it gives around 15x bet winnings. Then there are free spins, triggered by 3 scatters anywhere, and for that you get 10 free spins with 3x multiplier. I don't know why but for me it is very hard to trigger free spins in this slot, I can go with more than 300 spins without free spins feature.

Except for the design and theme, I don't really like this slot. I think it has really low payouts, I have never been close to even getting 100x bet size win. The game has also wilds, they appear on 3rd reel only and if they are on a winning combination, they expand, but even then I hardly can get more than 10x bet win on main game. Free spins round is hard to trigger and when I do, they pay peanuts. Last time I played it, I got only 1 free spin round in my session and it paid 70 cents! And the other bonus round pays really low as well, I get usually 15x to 20x bet winnings. And when you get this bonus few times, it gets boring. I wouldn't recommend it because of the low payouts.

My conclusion is that the Candy Cottage is classic Rival Video Slot game. Rival doesn't like a lot of experimenting, at least when it comes to rules for slot games. I am quite certain that the true fans of these games appreciate this.
