Building a successful business in online gambling can take a toll, but 1spin4win has managed to create a successful model, resulting in hundreds of their games reaching casinos worldwide.
We’re pleased to welcome Oleg, Product Manager at 1spin4win, who talks more about creating games, what makes games successful and some of the titles players can enjoy.
Let’s dive straight into the interview.
With more than 200 games in the portfolio, what key design principles have helped 1spin4win maintain strong player retention over time?
First of all, we treat retention not as something that needs to be supported externally through promotional activity, but as something that should be built into the product from the very beginning.
At 1spin4win, retention starts with strong mathematics. Behind all our slots are three key components: a well-balanced paytable, a well-thought-out RTP distribution, and moderate max exposure.
A balanced paytable creates consistency, concentrated RTP keeps rewards visible within the core experience, and reasonable max exposure makes larger wins feel more attainable.
This math-based product design helps us maintain 40% month-to-month retention and 6–7% new-player retention, demonstrating the effectiveness of a well-structured approach over short-term engagement tactics.
Many providers focus on adding more features and layers to gameplay. Instead, 1spin4win takes a different approach. Which direction best reflects your philosophy?
We believe gameplay quality is defined less by the number of features and more by the underlying structure. For example, in many modern slots, RTP is spread across multiple mechanics, bonus layers, and high-volatility features. While this can create complexity, it can also make rewards feel fragmented.
Our approach is different. As I mentioned earlier, we prefer a more concentrated RTP distribution. This creates clearer win patterns and makes outcomes feel more noticeable during regular sessions.
Math-based approach and balance rather than excess proved to be a winning formula for 1spin4win.
Max exposure is another important part of that balance. Extremely high multipliers, sometimes reaching x10000 or x20000, may look attractive on paper, but they often fall outside a typical player lifecycle. Instead, 1spin4win focuses on moderate max exposure, typically up to x5000, where bigger wins still feel meaningful while remaining realistically achievable.
For us, strong gameplay comes from balance rather than excess. When rewards are visible, outcomes are attainable, and the mathematical structure remains transparent, players are more likely to stay engaged over time.
What’s one 1spin4win slot you’ve worked on that you’re especially proud of, and what makes it stand out for you?
The games I’d like to highlight are Hold The Gold, released in 2023, and its sequel, Cash The Gold Hold and Win, launched in 2024. What makes these projects stand out is the vivid contrast between their visual straightforwardness and the inner dynamism of their gameplay.
At first glance, both titles are built around a very simple concept: only two types of symbols in the main game – winning and non-winning coins. But behind that simplicity lies a rich mathematical structure. In the dynamic base game, any coin, even a single one, can trigger an instant payout.
The Hold and Win Bonus round adds another layer, with a three-coin trigger and unique symbol-appearing logic. The games also feature an expanded range of coin effects, including Mystery Coins, Coin Multipliers, Mini Jackpots, and Mega Jackpots.
Additionally, both Hold The Gold and Cash The Gold Hold and Win offer Cash+, a mechanic that lets players influence how often the Hold and Win Bonus round is triggered by adjusting their bet level. According to our internal data, the two games have shown steady growth in popularity since launch, confirming the effectiveness of this concept.
Are there certain mechanics and features that have become signature elements of 1spin4win games over nearly 5 years in the market?
We see feature design much like cooking. The goal isn’t to find one “secret ingredient” but to create the right recipe with the perfect balance and combination of elements. Game development works in a similar way. What matters is not a single mechanic on its own, but how different features work together.
Over the past 5 years, we’ve experimented with a wide range of elements. These include Allways formats, hybrid models that combine paytables with coin-based mechanics, our own versions of Hold and Win, variations of Book-of mechanics, and other concepts.
What we’ve realised is that the key is not just adding new features, but understanding how they interact. Sometimes, even a small change in the “recipe” can completely transform the feel of a game. In the end, every new mathematical model creates a different gameplay “flavour.” Through these combinations, we aim to give players an experience that feels both varied and familiar.
We wanted to thank Oleg for taking the time to talk to our players and wish 1spin4win best of luck.
