Tombstone RIP Slot Overview

Enormous max wins of 300,000 x your total bet is the main draw in the Tombstone RIP slot, a supremely gritty Western-themed slot from Nolimit City. Played using 5 reels and 108 ways to win, this controversial Western combines X-rated visuals with some superb gameplay. Feature highlights include double symbols, a host of wild extras and 2 different free spins features. With a 96.08% RTP rate, find out all you’ll need to know about this insanely volatile (and highly controversial) slot in our detailed Tombstone RIP review.

Tombstone RIP Details, RTP, Payout and Volatility

The Tombstone RIP slot game is played using a straightforward 5 reel, 3 row, 10 payline machine. Create winning combinations by landing 3, 4 or 5 matching symbols or wilds left to right in a payline, starting from reel 1.

The setup in the Tombstone RIP slot game is a little unusual. The action starts on a 5-reel machine that are 2x3x3x3x1 symbol high with that combination delivering 108 ways to win. Split symbols (which I’ll look at more closely below) can increase the number of ways to win. Winning combinations are created by landing 3 or more matching symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel.

Stakes in Tombstone RIP range from between $/£/€0.10 and $/£/€50 per spin. Click on the Coin button below the reels to adjust your stake. There are 25 different levels to choose from. If you’re outside the UK, you’ll have the chance to set between 10 and 1,000 autospins as well as a win and loss limits. There’s also a turbo mode if required.

The Tombstone RIP RTP rate is 96.08% which puts it just above the 96% slots average. Nolimit City has also produced a 94.08% RTP alternative version which will be used by many online casinos due to the max win potential and insane volatility level.

What is most definitely isn’t middle of the pack is this slot’s maximum win and volatility. The Tombstone RIP max payout is known as El Gordo’s Revenge and is 300,000 x your total bet. This pays out once every 130 million spins on average (known as the max win probability).

The free spins features trigger once every 194 spins on average. I expected that figure to be a little higher given the mighty maximum win potential. Landing a payout of 100 x your total bet or higher occurs once every 1,014 spins on average. As you can see, high rewards bring with it a high level of risk. The Tombstone RIP volatility is insanely high. We’re talking 11 out of 10! The game has a hit frequency rate of just 9.08%. That means on average, a winning combination only lands once every 11 spins. Yikes.

Tombstone RIP Theme, Audio and Symbols

With a Western theme, the Tombstone RIP online slot transports players to the Wild West. Blazing Saddles it most certainly isn’t though. This isn’t a slot that shies away from the brutalities of the American frontier. Expect blood-splattering amputations, gruesome hangings and vicious murders.

There’s a rather grainy, sepia-tinged look to the visuals here. With a classic Western town in the background, the reels are set within wooden gallows. If you know what you’re expecting and don’t mind the rather gold-blooded theme, the design here is really rather good if a little graphic. It might be a Western-themed slot but if you’re expecting cuddly cartoon cowboys, you won’t find them here.

The twanging guitars, haunting harmonicas and whistles in the soundtrack are punctuated by gunshots and blood-curdling splatters. It combines with the visuals to create a decidedly creepy atmosphere. If that all sounds a bit much, you can mute the sound effects, and/or music.

Symbols include lower value A to 10 royals and higher value characters. Joining the gambler and sheriff are bandits Skinny Joe, Edda Star and El Gordo. The El Gordo symbol is the best paying awarding up to 4 x your total bet for 5 in combination. Only the higher value symbols, wilds and scatters appear on reel 5. Anything that lands on reel 5 counts as a double symbol. Below is a list of all symbol payouts and functions for the special symbols:

  • 10: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1. 0.2 or 0.5 x bet
  • J: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.6 x bet
  • Q: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.7 x bet
  • K: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.2, 0.3 or 0.8 x bet
  • A: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.2, 0.3 or 0.9 x bet
  • Sheriff: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.3, 0.4 or 1 x bet
  • Gambler: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.3, 0.4 or 1.5 x bet
  • Skinny Joe: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.4, 0.5 or 2.5 x bet
  • Edda Star: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.4, 0.6 or 3 x bet
  • El Gordo: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.5, 0.8 or 4 x bet
  • Cross Wild: Substitutes for symbols above
  • Reel Split Wild: Splits itself + other symbols on same reel
  • xSplit Wild: Cuts symbols to the left in 4 different paths
  • xNudge Wilds: Triggers xNudge Wilds feature + increases multiplier
  • Hang 'em High Scatter: Can trigger 2 free spins features

Tombstone RIP Mobile

You can play Tombstone RIP on all devices. Nolimit City created the game using HTML5 technology, so the Tombstone RIP mobile slot is compatible with tablets and smartphones. It’s all very easy to play on a small-screen device.

Tombstone RIP Bonus Features

The Tombstone RIP game offers plenty of features and bonuses, 7 in fact. It’s sky-high volatility means that they can sometimes feel as brutal as the game’s theme. There’s a decent variety on offer though. Details on all features are described below in greater detail.

xNudge Wilds

When xNudge Wild symbols appear on any of the middle 3 reels, they nudge to turn the whole reel wild. Each nudge also boosts the value of a wild multiplier by 1x. In the happy event you land more than 1 xNudge Wild symbol on the same spin, their values are combined.

Reel Split Wilds

When Reel Split Wild symbols hit on reels 2, 3 or 4, they split all the other symbols on the same reel into two. More symbols mean more way to win and better potential rewards.

xSplit Wilds

xSplit Wilds are 2-high and can land on reel 5 only. They can then cut into 4 potential paths, splitting symbols as well as increasing the number of ways to win. If the xSplit wilds go on to cut an xNudge Wild, the multiplier valued gets doubled.

xRIP

The xRIP feature is a prime example of the rather brutal nature of Tombstone RIP. You can land a winner and still not get paid. That happens if the win is less than the value of your total bet. The xRIP is activated and you’ll win nowt.

HHang’em High Free Spins

Land 3 Hang’em High Scatter on the middle 3 reels on the same spin and your reward is 8 free spins. In the Hang’em High Free Spins feature, look out for multipliers which are attached to the wilds:

  • Regular Wild = 1x
  • Reel Split Wild = 2x
  • xSplit Wild = 2x
  • xNudge Wild = 1x to 3x

Land a single Hang’em High Scatter during this feature and 1 extra free spin is added to your total. Land 2 of them and they transform into Reel Split Wilds. Multipliers can increase throughout this feature.

Boothill Free Spins

Potentially even better is the Boothill Free Spins feature which is activated by landing 3 Hang’em High Scatter symbols as well as a Boothill Scatter on the rightmost reel. You’ll then go on to play 10 free spins. The wilds once again have multipliers attached:

  • Regular Wild = 1x
  • Reel Split Wild = 2x
  • xSplit Wild = 2x
  • xNudge Wild = 1x to 3x

If you see a Cowboy symbol appear on reel 5 during the Boothill Free Spins feature, it can deliver some exciting extras. All symbols that match the Cowboy on reel 5 elsewhere on the reels become wild. 1 of the cowboys will also benefit from a random multiplier of between 5x and 999x.

Enhanced Bet

Activated the Enhanced Bet option by increasing your standard bet by 10%. That extra investment guarantees that at least 1 Scatter symbol will hit on the middle reel on each spin. The RTP is also boosted with the Enhanced Bet active, rising from 96.08% to 96.28%.

The free spins features trigger more regularly with the Enhanced Bet active. Instead of waiting 194 spins to trigger the Hang’em High Free Spins feature, they hit on average every 94 spins. You can still wait an eternity (once every 63,000 spins) for the Boothill Free Spins feature to land.

Nolimit Bonus

If you’re based outside of the UK, you’ll likely have the opportunity to pay and activate the free spins features. The Hang’em High Free Spins will set you back 70 x bet. These play out at an enhanced RTP rate of 96.47%.

The Boothill Free Spins cost a whopping 3,000 x bet and have a 97.03% RTP. Buy the Boothill Free Spins and you won’t get your money back 7 times out of 10. Payouts of between 30,000 x and 300,000 x land just 1% of the time. I did tell you that Tombstone RIP is a volatile slot.

Tombstone RIP Slot Verdict

Online slots don’t come any bigger and badder than the Tombstone RIP slot. Almost everything about the game is excessive, whether that be the gory visuals, the insane volatility or the absolutely enormous max win potential.

The design, rather brutal as it is, is very well done. As long as you know what’s coming, it does the job superbly well. Hangings and amputations aren’t everyone’s idea of fun of course, but each to their own. Forewarned is forearmed and all that.

Gameplay wise, Tombstone RIP hits the spot too. Like the sound and visuals, the bonus feature are all a bit extreme and not for the faint hearted. The assorted wild extras spice up the action but it’s the free spins features that offer the biggest rewards.

Expect to be disappointed on a regular basis when you do land them though thanks to the sky-high variance. This is an extremely high-risk slot. 300,000 x bet max wins is a tempter though. It dwarfs the 11,456 x bet max wins available in the original Tombstone slot

Given the rampant volatility and unique theme, there’s probably only a limited audience for the Tombstone RIP slot. That said, it has a cult following as is the highest-paying non-jackpot slot available online (at the time of writing). If you have the stomach for it though, this Wild West adventure is a must.

On a negative note, Tombstone RIP won’t be allowed by sites for wagering on casino bonuses due to the insane volatility and win potential. You won’t find any free spins bonuses on the game either.

LIKED

These cowboy slots from Nolimit City are extremely volatile. I remember the first Tombstone, man did I hate that game, however, I saw big wins, but I was simply just very unlucky on this slot. Now Tomb Stone 2 came out better known as Tombstone RIP.

Even more volatile than the first one, but at least you get to buy the bonus feature in this slot. You can buy the cheap bonus that is like 80x I think or you can go big and buy a bonus for 3000x your total bet. Yes, you heard that right 3000x! With a winning potential of up to 300 000x your total bet is seriously insane and a huge step up from San Quentins 150 000x.

What I like about Nolimit city, their max win potential is real and not bad at all. You often see players getting the max win in their slots, and within a week we saw 270 000x win on this slot after its release, followed by 2 weeks later someone won 300 000x. With that said the bet is always 10 cents or something, but still $30 000 for a $0.10 bet is a huge winning amount for personally – I'd take it!

I have to admit I would never pay 3000x for this slot super bonus, I'd rather buy the one in San Quentin, as the RTP ratio for the super bonus is very good, compare to this slot.

What I like is the features and innovation in Nolimit City slots. This game has huge multipliers, up to 999x symbol multipliers and we do see it often, but sometimes the symbols do not connect. I think Mental has a multiplier up 9999x which is huge, but no one saw one before.

Do I like the slot? Yeah… Do I play it often – Nope. I simply cannot play this slot in regular mode and 3000x is a lot of money to be paying for a bonus round, when the 80x one, pays peanuts ( You really need luck)

As usual great slots, but less enjoyable due to the bonus buy features and that probably affects the RTP for us old-school slot spinners.
