The slot has 5 reels and 3 rows and 20 paylines. with a min bet of 0.01 per spin if you play 1 line only but since it’s a 20 line slot you might as well play it with all 20 lines at minimum of 0.01 per spin and that is what I did and never bothered to raise the bet.

The slot is like many other playtechs, uses the same sounds, but a difference in the bonuses. There are however two features, one is the common triggering gift bonus pick feature, where you need to get the gift boxes appearing on a pay line from left to right and those pay on the low side but they do appear often giving a sense of winning something. One time I had 5 gifts on a payline and then I got to choose all the boxes. But that is really rare as that only happened like once out of 45 pick me bonuses that I played most recently. The other feature is the free spins feature where you need 3 or more scatters to get into it and then you get free spins with x3 multiplier on each win.

Christmas theme slots are one of my favorites, and they are usually played around Christmas time for me I would say as other times it doesn’t feel right. The reason I did play it most recently was because of a promo at one of the casinos that required to play this slot or a few other ones but this was one of them so I mostly played this for the promo. I did manage to get my RTP close to 90% and that was having done nearly 2000 spins on it.

When it comes to the base game, the base game actually produced a bigger win than any of my features/pick me features and this surprised me with a win of 108.75x..... much better than the highest paying free spins feature of 40.7x.

The slot can be run on fast mode and autoplay and I would sometimes turbo spin this slot even though it can be played at a slower pace but when nothing much is happening you will give it a few rapid turbo spins to try to get a faster feature.

As for the RTP that is with this slot, it plays on 97.05% and that is surprisingly high for a slot and worth playing just for that to see how well slots on higher RTP play compared to your usual 96 or less. That was the RTP level that I got to play this slot on, don’t know if there are lower settings for this slot.

Sometimes the features can pay very poorly, in fact most of the time, never felt like there was going to be something big paying off, never bothered to raise the bet at all. The average free spins feature was just 21x, with the best being just 40.7x. And believe it or the average of spins to get the feature was 276 spins and the longest wait was 511. Not really like to wait that long for a feature that is always going to pay low. There are much better slots out there in the Christmas theme category that could actually pay something more than what this one does.

By the way to get this bonus you need to have at least 3 bonus symbols on some of the winning paylines. The wins from this bonus are regularly small. But for that this bonus is easy to come by. The other bonus is a free spins bonus which is triggered when 3 scattered houses appear anywhere on the reels. You are awarded with 10 free spins with 3 x multiplier and they can be retriggered infinitely. I know this is impossible and the most retriggers I have won is 3, but still you can get a descent payout from the free spins.

I am going to be upfront with all of you, for those who like "A Night Out" slot well I can tell you the graphics here on Santa Surprise are more fantastic than it is in "A Night Out". I do however not think it's of the same standards as a couple of Microgaming Christmas slots. I've played this game during a few sessions on pretty high bets of €2 per spin, and had a terrible time triggering the features.

Santa Surprise offers two second-level bonuses to look forward to. The first one is the free spins bonus, which gets triggered if you collect 3 or more houses (scatters). You then receive 10 free spins and a 3x multiplier. I find this number too low, since the free spins are always over soon without achieving some decent winnings.

I believe my best win is only 25x bet size, while others been lower. Either I've been quite unlucky or it's incredibly hard to win big here. Luckily the free spins can be re-triggered but I never achieved that. During base game I did have a couple of good hits though with the cooperation of Santa, where I had a few 80x bet size wins.

The other feature is the bonus. You need to get 3, 4 or 5 bonus symbols in succession starting from reel 1 to trigger the bonus. Once you succeed you have to pick 3, 4 or 5 gifts, depending on the number of consecutive bonus symbols. I never came further than 3, but this bonus is very easy to trigger though.

Maybe that's why the rewards aren't too impressive, since I won 5-7x bet size most of the time. Overall nice graphics, decoration and music, but my wins not so good. They should perhaps add a higher multiplier or spins.
