Jungle Giants is one of the several new game releases from Playtech, but all of which no longer follow the good old ways of Playtech games. What do I mean by that? Simply put, these new games follow the current trend of having extremely low win values for the symbols, and a much lower maximum win cap. In this Jungle Giants case, the maximum possible win is 1000x the total bet, achievable only by getting all Wild symbols on the reels, which in practical terms, is almost impossible to get!
If all Wild symbols could only pay 1000x, what about getting all of the top-paying regular symbol, the Elephant? Believe it or not, all 15 Elephant symbols would pay a blardy low 150x win! That, to me, is absolutely ridiculous! Don’t forget that Jungle Giants is not a low or medium volatility game – it plays and pays just like a high volatility one, meaning, giving lots of miserably small wins, with occasional decent wins of 50x or more. In short, it would be very hard to get any good win on this game, unless you are on a lucky day.
What I don’t like most is its $0.50 starting bet for its 50 paylines – a 243 ways to win would be best, but that’s not what the game designers had in mind. Just like all other game providers nowadays, they only want more money for themselves. Just look at the win values of all the symbols and you’d get a better picture.
Getting a full Colossal Jungle Giant symbol (this symbol appears only in 3x3 size, covering reels 2, 3 and 4) would award 8 free spins, without any win multiplier, and without any payout, argh! Even though the free spins game can be retriggered indefinitely, as stated in the paytable, I have yet to get one retriggered game so far. In fact, after playing several separate times on this game, I have even yet to get a Colossal Wild symbol in the centre reels!
Let me just say this very bluntly – I don’t like the $0.50 starting bet per spin, I don’t like the non-paying free spins symbol and I also don’t like the very low win values of all the symbols. However, I managed to get one 105x win from the game after a few tries, but I don’t think I would want to give Jungle Giants any more plays – it has been very disappointing for me all the way!
