Lucky Emeralds is one of the latest games from Playtech, which I came across very recently whilst playing at my regular casino. Curiosity got the better of me, so I loaded up the game to see what it was all about. Well, after browsing through its paytable, I then decided to give the game a try, but also to find out for myself if it’s worth playing more regularly in the future.
My first impressions of Lucky Emeralds were quite good – the game looks impressive enough, it has a simple green background scenario, and I also like those vibrant Clover Wild symbols – they stand out like a sore thumb, hahaha.
Another thing that I like about this game is its $0.10 starting bet, never heard of before in any of Playtech games! As it turns out, the game plays with only 10 paylines, so that wasn’t surprising at all. In fact, this Lucky Emeralds game is actually very similar to NetEnt’s Starburst game, but with a touch of NetEnt’s ‘Egg-O-Matic’ to it. What do I mean? Well, the Wild symbols can become Wild Reels, ala Starburst, and the Wild symbols come along at the top, ala Egg-O-Matic.
Hmm, I must say that I was rather intrigued by this ‘new’ concept from Playtech, so I wasted no time in trying it out. But before that, I just want to point out that the win values of the symbols are about the same as in Starburst, but unlike Starburst, getting 5 Wild symbols would pay 50x the total bet, and the same goes for the top Green Diamond symbol too. But there’s one more difference – there are no Wild Reel Respins ala Starburst, but the Wild symbols can drop on any of the five reels, perhaps even creating 5 Wild Reels, but I wouldn’t know for sure at this early stage in this game.
Honestly speaking, I quite enjoyed playing Lucky Emeralds, even without any free spins or Wild Reel Respins. Whenever the Clover Wild Feature is activated (randomly), all the Clover Wild symbols at the top would drop down onto the reels. This feature can occur quite frequently, so that keeps the interest and anticipation going. Even though Lucky Emeralds is a low to medium variance game, it may become popular with players, perhaps even as much as Starburst did a few years ago.
