“John Doe” is a video slot with 5 x 4 reels and 40 pay lines developed by the company “Stakelogic” whose theme has comic strip-like graphics that tell times of crime and corruption in the heyday of the Italian Mafia in North America; I would say that the theme of this slot has certain similarities with Dick Tracy's comics.

In this slot all symbols appear stacked, even the wild symbol, which does not double your winnings, but it nudges 1, 2 or 3 positions down on the same reel every time it can generate a new payout; rules of this feature are actually a bit more complex, but basically this way is how it works.

Except for the aforementioned feature, this is a completely flat slot as it lacks any bonus round and Stakelogic has not been generous enough this time to include at least some free spins round.

The paytable on its part looks decent enough, however, the hitting average in this game is quite low because stacked symbols often obstruct line formation, a fact that also gives rise to the not infrequent streaks of dead spins.

Due to the absence of bonus rounds and free games, all our hopes of getting a real big win are reduced to the mere possibility that at some point, during some of our turns, we can form several lines of 5 of a kind massively, that is to say, where symbols are very grouped, and that they involve preferably the highest paid symbols of the game; and at this point I have to comment that they were really few lines of 5 of a kind that I could form today in this slot, and I never managed to do it with stacked symbols, in fact, lines of 4 of a kind did not seem to happen either so often.

My first experience with “John Doe” slot was finally disappointing, my session ended with losses and I think I could also say that this is a somewhat monotonous game and therefore not so fun; and I believe my poor perception of this slot does not come from that losses, but from the lack of opportunities that would fuel my hope of recovering them.
