Many years ago, NetEnt released a game entitled South Park, which became very popular quickly, and a sequel, South Park Reel Chaos, then came along not long after. Very recently, NetEnt is trying to revitalize South Park’s past glory by releasing a cloned game entitled Arcane Reel Chaos, hoping that this game could and would catch on with players as much as South Park did. Well, it’s still pretty early to say if this move is successful or not, but let’s have a deeper look into this cloned game.

The most interesting part of playing South Park was in its various search and fight animated scenes, so Arcane Reel Chaos has similar traits too, but without any of the animated scenes. Instead, there are 4 randomly activated features in the base game, plus the usual free spins game, to keep the interest going. Each feature is separate and different – Psyop awards 2 to 3 random Wild Reels, Zero X awards 3 to 5 random Wild symbols, Flare awards a 3x, 4x or 5x Multiplier, and Chrono awards a guaranteed win Respin after a no-win spin, with an increasing multiplier for each no-win Respin. Getting 3 non-paying Scatter symbols gets a Fight scene with Deep Pockets, the Enemy, to determine the number of free spins and multiplier to be awarded. Sounds fun right?

Yes, it is, but does the win values of the symbols in play pay as good as South Park? The top winning symbol, Deep Pockets, would pay 50x the total bet for getting 5 of him, so that’s not too bad, whilst the other symbols pay 25x down to 2x, which is also acceptable. The feature games have varying degrees of win multipliers, with 10x multiplier at best, so getting some decent wins are indeed possible. However, I don’t know what the maximum possible win would be, but I’d guess it would be about the 500x – 750x mark. This may not be much of an incentive at first glance, but if with lots of frequent good wins during play, this game could be worth playing regularly at least.

I have not given Arcane Reel Chaos that many try-outs as yet, but from my two sessions on this game, I have managed to get a nice 199x win from it, so that’s pretty encouraging to me. Nevertheless, this isn’t conclusive at all, so time will tell in the end, if ever this Arcane can be as good as South Park.
