The moment I looked at this Glorious Rome game from Pragmatic Play, it instantly reminded me of Playtech's Glory Of Rome game. Needless to say, these games play with Expanding symbols, as in Book Of Dead game, so I guess everyone is already familiar with it. The paytable and win values of all the symbols are similar, if not identical, so a lot would depend on how each game would play and pay - no two games, even with identical paytables, would play and pay the same way!

Glory Of Rome, in the first instance, played rather badly almost all the time, as when compared to its counterpart, Captain's Treasure Pro, also by Playtech. Similarly, this Glory Of Rome game didn't play well either, and most of the payouts that I got from it were miserable ones indeed. Not surprising really, but very disappointing nonetheless. I would consider this game as a poor version of similar games!

Pragmatic Play games can have very good graphics, as can be seen in most of their newer games, so I cannot figure out why they couldn't, or wouldn't, improve the presentation of this Glory Of Rome game. Anyway, not that it matters a lot to me, but it does take away the enjoyment, entertainment and aesthetics values. Some good decent payouts would have made some good plus points for the game, but that too failed to happen during my few sessions on it.

DISLIKED

Suffice to say that good wins are indeed possible from such expanding symbols games, but I guess somewhere in the formulation or configuration of this game, some things were not set correctly, thereby resulting in poor gameplay. Nope, I wouldn't recommend Glory Of Rome, so you'd be better off playing some other similar game, either from Pragmatic Play, or by some other providers.

Glorious Rome is a 5 reel and 20 payline slot game from Topgame software. I believe that each software provider has at least one game that is about ancient Rome, and for Topgame it is this game. I discovered it recently when I had some no deposit bonus.

After spending a session with this game I have to say I don't like it. The design is quite expected, there are lady, warrior, grape and other symbols that first comes to mind when thinking about ancient Rome. I did like the fact that the color scheme was light and the atmosphere was good. The most important thing I didn't like was the payouts. The paytable was quite low, and the only feature game has is free spins round, but even that was disappointing. It took a really long time to trigger free spins, and for 3 scatters I got only 10 free spins, before them I got a random symbol that would work as a scatter in free spins. But the worst part is that the free spins have no multiplier so I won only 2€, which is exactly 10x bet.

There were few things I did like about this game. Scatters in this game also work as wild symbols, and besides that, there are also wild symbols as lions and they come up very often. The biggest winning I've had on this slot was 55x bet size, and it was because of combination of wild symbols with money bags. And money bags isn't even the highest paying symbol. I also had a few mega winnings that were 30x bet and overall I didn't lose a dime on this game.

That being said, I wouldn't recommend this game. The payouts are average and I think it would be really hard to hit a win over 100x bet. The design is pleasing, but overall there's not much to look forward to when playing this game, because the spins have no multiplier and there is no other bonus round. This game won't be in my top list for Topgame slots.

There are not too many historic themed slots on TopGame palette and when the first time I saw the name of this game I was happy about to play with a product that deals with the great Roman Empire. Luckily Glorious Rome promptly lived up to my expectation when I started to play with it. Its interface is graphically very beautiful and elegant but this is the slot where the creators didn’t focus just on the reel are. The function buttons and other part of the screen took the same attention and even the rolling menu windows got little authentic decoration elements (like paper rolls or golden wreath illustrations). The reels are surrounded with almost perfectly drawn columns and the symbols are also superb one by one. They’re very properly coloured with nice tones and I admire how they’re well-created and symbolizes grape, gladiator, Roman warrior, nobleman, coins just to name a few.

All in all, I respect how this game is managed and what it can provide in visualization. It’s well remarkable that every little piece is in its place and really obvious the creators spent lot of time to make all pictorial effects as perfect as they can be. Personally, I’d rate Glorious Rome as the best looking slot that I’ve played with for a long time.

Every time when I’m very satisfied one segment of a game unfortunately the other section just can’t follow its footsteps and usually I quickly return into reality. This is the situation with Glorious Rome a little bit, though it’s not as dramatic as what I’ve experienced at some other products.

The best symbol of the game is Lion, the Wild and can give a chance for the best paying 5 of a kind line if all figures symbolize it but it just pays 1000 times of line bet. This was a big disappointment for me because I really thought and still thinks this 20-payline slot would deserve much generous Jackpot amount to offer. While it is substituting other symbols it can’t add anything the won amount as it doesn’t have multiplying function but at least it may arrive to the reels in stacked format like other characters. On the other hand, the slot has an uncommon feature namely there’s another substituting symbol with the same conditions as Lion but it functions also as Scatter. The Golden Quadriga emblem can pay up to 200 times of total bet as Scatter and also trigger the Free Spin feature.

The free spins starts when 3 or more such symbols appear anywhere on the table then a randomly chosen symbol is assigned and becomes Scatter for that session and the wins with it pay as normally do according to its paying ability but there’s no need that the members of the forming lines to be on an active payline it’s enough if they pop up on any reels.
It’s not a bad plus for the extra spins but I’d rather have the common win multiplying system in effect there.

As I’ve experienced there’s nothing strange neither in positive nor negative ways in the payout tendency of this game so it can be said it’s a normal working slot machine but I definitely miss the chance for higher winnable amount. Though I never won any worth mentioning amount here during my former sessions but I still believe in this game but if I will never win any big amount here, well, this slot will still have the ability to enchant me with its appearance and cause me some enjoyable moments.
