My deposit was small of only 35 euros and after playing some other games that cost me half of my bankroll, I decided to go for Crime Pays. It said it had a jackpot of 50,000 coins which left me with a positive impression.
Crime Pays is produced by WMS (Williams Interactive) and contains 5-reels, 4-rows and 50-paylines. The nice thing about this game is that the theme really comes in strong and makes you feel you’re in middle of a mobster movie. The graphics are dope and the same goes for the features.
In addition, the minimum bet is only 25 cents while at the same time you have all paylines at your disposal. Sounds like an excellent deal right? The symbols of Crime Pays are decorated with handcuffs, badges, pistols, vodka, gold bricks, diamond rings, diamond stones, stacked money and four different Russian mobsters.
But there are also wild symbols on every reel that can assist you to complete a winning combination. It’s difficult though to get a 5oak combination with the mob figures or wilds though. The best payout can be achieved by getting 5 wilds on a payline. This would equal a win of 400x bet.
I never came further than 4 wilds unfortunately. My best win during base game was around 12.50 euros (50x bet). Crime Pays does however keep you amused since it has 3 different second-level bonus features on offer. On reel 1 the symbol 'Crime' can appear while on reel 2 the symbol 'Pays' can appear.
If you get both of these, then you stand a chance at winning the Free Spins feature or the Mastermind feature. On reel 5 you should get one of those symbols to win one of them. The Free Spins feature is rather straightforward though.
You get 7 free spins with a 2x multiplier. I managed to trigger it a couple times and never won more than 10 euros (40x bet). I also believe there are more wilds on the first reel during free spins, but I could be wrong.
The best feature to look forward to is the Mastermind feature. I only managed to trigger it once, but here is where you can win the jackpot. There you have to select a region and a tactic to find the hideout of the mastermind or mobster boss. I don’t really think it matters what you choose as like most slots your prize is already predetermined.
With every pick you get some prize and a multiplier during this bonus game. Not sure how it all works but I ended up winning 30 euros with it. So that leads me to believe this is the feature to look forward to.
Finally, there is also the Crime Spree feature. Get the Police Siren symbol on reel 5 and it gets triggered. When this happens you first get a multiplier, and then two from three prizes get shot down. Then a few symbols will be turned around and reveal a prize one after one until you get busted.
I must say this feature can really help to keep your bankroll flowing the right direction. Overall this is a fun game I really enjoyed and even made a small profit on.
