Every tale in the ‘One Thousand And One Nights’ collection has a lesson for us. But we remember only a few. The ‘Ali Baba and The Forty Thieves’ was one that captivated us as children. Ali Baba is a poor woodcutter who secretly watches as 40 thieves hide their booty in a cave, the door to which can be opened only by the verbal command of “Open, Sesame!” He later uses this magic phrase, steals riches from the cave, and lives a prosperous life… How time flies!

Leander Gaming making this famous story into the subject of a slot. A video slot with 5 reels and 20 Paylines. The scenery takes place on a desert with the magical Cave, where presumably Ali Baba says the words ‘Open Sesame’ to enter.
The symbols on the reels include: Ali Baba/Thief/Belly Dancer/Golden Beetle/Camel/Monkey/Snake/Ring/Dagger/Drum/Flute. Ali Baba is the top paying symbol, with a reward of 2.500x bet for 5 of them. The Thief rewards 800x bet. The Wild symbol is the Belly Dancer and when she appears she expands to the entire reel.

The game has two distinct bonus features - one is a Free spins round, the other is a Pick Me bonus feature. The game also has 3 Scatter symbols. The first is a Treasure Chest which simply pays a cash reward when landing 3/4/5 symbols. The others lead to features – the ‘BONUS’ symbol taking you to the ‘Gold or Bandit’ bonus round, the ‘Free Spins’ symbol giving you.
Free spins- Hehe!

In overall, this is a slot that will appeal especially those who enjoy a fun, low variance slot.

Some video slots from casino software provider Leander Games really bring a lot of joy to the casual slots player. Ali Baba is an excellent example of a game that I certainly can appreciate. Although I played this game only during very few sessions, I do have very fond memories of it. It’s a game with an inviting theme and well-developed by the folks at Leander Games.

In addition, the animations are nice and graphics wise it serves its purpose. Ali Baba and the 40 thieves is an attractive slot with 5-reels, 3-rows and 20-paylines. The minimum bet on this game is only 20 cents, but the potential is definitely there to win big even with a low bet size.

I played this game on 1 euro bets most of the time. What strikes me as odd was that I had three scatter symbols when I just started playing it but never got anything out of it apart from a coin prize. After checking the paytable I came to the conclusion that scatters don’t trigger a bonus round.

There are still two very important features to look forward to though. One is the bonus feature which gets awarded if you get the bonus symbol on reels 2, 3 and 4. You then get to play the ‘Gold or Bandit’ bonus game. Subsequently you get 6 picks to choose from a variety of vases. Those vases either have monkeys in them or a coin prize. Before the feature starts you get a few protections (1, 2 or 3).

Every time a monkey appears u lose one of the protections. It’s a nice bonus game which awarded me around 20-30x bet size most of the time. The other feature to look forward to is the free spins feature with multipliers.

Before we discuss that, let me point out that Belly Dancer symbol on the reels is an expanding wild. So even during base game you can have a huge hit if you have multiple belly dancers doing their thing. The free spins symbols only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. You need all three to trigger this feature. You then have to choose from 1 of 3 different number of free spins and possible multipliers.

I still don’t completely understand how it works. Even after reading Paquito’s review below, I’m afraid I still don’t quite get it. The volatility is different for each pick though and that goes for the risk factor as well of course. I experienced the free spins session like 3 times. During the free spins the first reel is completely wild. I managed to win over 150x bet during one of those sessions.

Overall I’m way up on this game and very satisfied with most that the Ali Baba video slot has to offer.

Difficult to understand the allocation of the free spins feature. Might be my own stupidity but I think they could have done a better job explaining it.

This Leander product is another great adaptation of one of the most famous piece of Arabic literature (though the original story came from Persia, as I suppose we all knew that). If someone like the adventure tales from the Middle Ages certainly appreciate this slot and hopefully enjoy it.

Ali Baba has 20-pay line to bet on and its characters are rather funny than graphically perfect but all of them are the familiar participants like Ali Baba, thief, animal, musical instruments and Jazmine symbolizes the Wild and has a sexy stomach dance move when she’s an active member of a winning line. But the most liked and favourite part of the game is the Open Sesame bonus and free spins round. After getting the 3 symbols on the 1st, 3rd and 5th reels a selection must be made between three free spins types. 15 free spins, x4 multiplier, 4 picks or 20-x5-6 or 25-x6-8. Initially, I couldn’t quite understand how it would work for them because usually the higher number of spins means less value of multiplier, but next stage gave me the answer. So the selection gives an entry into the rock where all the stolen treasures are hidden. There are 12 chests that have multiplier and free spin for us so the selection attached pick number determines how many chance we have to use on them. We started the game with a minimum 10 free games with x1 multiplier and all of our picks are added to these numbers, (here’s the solution for my former problem) but if we exceed the limits it reduces back to 10 extra spins with no multiplier. After the numbers are known the actual free spins feature is started. I like this bonus and free games combo, really makes it more interesting especially with the fact that Jazmine remains expending wild for free spins too and stays on the first reel for every spins during this time.
Three bonus symbols in the middle reels get us to the ‘Gold or Bandit’ bonus room. A randomly chosen number (1-3) is awarded at the beginning of the bonus, while we’re picking between vases some of them reveal cash prizes some of them would end the game but the randomly awarded number can save us giving a chance to continue picking as many times as the number shows.

My greatest session with it can be thanked to 2 free spins. First, I had enough luck to get 20 free games at x5 multiplier via selections and at the end of the extra the winnings were total of €220. I kept playing with just €1 bet and got another opportunity to spin without bets. That time I chose the 25 games (usually I go with the median option) variant and selected for myself 18 spins at x6 multiplier. A five of a kind and 3 Ali with wild were enough to increase my balance at the end with €300. By the way, coming out of these bonuses with at least €40-€70 is almost normal.
This is the type of bonus that I really wait for because I feel the potential in it to give me some bigger prizes.

Definitely, it became one of my favourite and frequently played slots lately, when I’m at a casino where it is available to play. Thanks to its extras, nice symbols and last but not least Jazmine’s dance it really can entertain me and deserved 5 stars from me.
