Wizard of Gems is a video slot game from Play N` Go and like its name suggest there are many colorful gemstones on the reels. This is a nice game but I did not have a single good win while playing it. The multiplier increases but for me it was never higher than x 2.

The highest amount that I have won was 3 x bet only. I did not even have 2 consecutive wins to increase the multiplier.

The Wizard of Gems has only one special feature and that is the free spins round. The star symbol is the scatter in this game and you need at least 3 to activate the free spins. You get 10 free spins and it is possible to retrigger the free spins too. This seems like a feature that has a big potential to pay huge once you activate it. There are between 1 and 9 wild symbols that can appear on the reels during the feature. I had a really short session so I did not manage to activate this feature.

Wizard of Gems seems to be a standard five reel variant of Play N Go's extremely popular "Gemix" game, and I have to say I prefer this game by a wide margin. The symbols are identical as far as I can tell as is the little wizard guy who hangs out to the left of the reels acting all exciting when you score a win of less than a quarter of your stake... hmm, bit of a questionable level of enthusiasm if you ask me but it's attractive all the same and I can imagine more girly ladies going mad for the visuals of this slot!

I've always enjoyed rolling reels format games though I do think they work better with larger numbers of paylines - Microgamings "Break Away" and it's many clones with 243 pay ways are the best example because it can be really difficult to arrange symbols onto paylines several times if your initial spin yielded a poor set of symbols. This game has 20 paylines, the same as NetEnt's Gonzo's Quest which is a very popular game of this type however the paylines are different in this game so there were times I thought I would be awarded a win but was not.

There are actually quite a few similarities between this game and Gonzo's, but I definitely prefer this game overall because it has proper scatter symbols rather than having to get the bonus symbols on a payline in order to be awarded the bonus mode.

I really love the look of "Wizard of Gems", this slot developed by "Play'n Go" is quite colorful and visually appealing, and the animated image of Merlin is really cool. As for the gameplay, I think that rates stipulated on the paytable definitely do not look strong enough, but we must bear in mind that Play'n GO has included only seven standard symbols in this game and also a wild symbol that works as substitute for them, and the smaller the amount of these symbols, the greater our chances to achieve hits, and certainly I have found that this slot is fully dynamic and I do not remember having long streaks without forming combinations, but of course, the payouts during the base game they are usually modest, even when we have managed to activate multipliers x2, x3 or x5 after achieving several hits in a row. However, one aspect that should be noted about this slot is that getting the 3 star-shaped scatters needed to trigger the round of 10 free games it has not seemed so difficult to me, I am almost certain that I never spent more than 100 spins without having triggered at least one round of free spins, and thanks to the feature where Merlin turns one or more symbols into wilds during this round, my winnings on them were always decent enough to keep my balance at acceptable levels that allowed me to play much longer, and for this same reason I think this slot can be considered of low variance, even I think it would be a good idea to try using this game in the task of clearing some bonuses.

In conclusion, I believe that "Wizard of Gems" is a nice, fun and even relaxing game, time flies while you play; in terms of its potential to generate profits I think it's better to keep a moderate expectation because, from my point of view, this is not a slot to get rich during a single session nor it is a game that eats all your credits in the twinkling of an eye, it is a very balanced game in my opinion, that said, I think it is worth to give it a try to this game.
