Does everybody know what a Wasabi is, and where it comes from? Wasabi is getting a very quick 'kick' in the nose, Japanese style, like putting a ginger slice into your nostrils, whilst your tongue gets a very quick pat of a hot spoon! Hahaha. That's what wasabi does. It's hotter than chilli but the hot sensation goes off very quickly too, unlike with chillies. And wasabi isn't cheap to eat, because cultivating them is very hard to do. Compare them to eating exclusive chocolates if you like. Me? Nah, I've never been to Japan, so I've never tasted the real wasabi. Those in the tubes may not be the real wasabi. Most of them are made from horseradish! Hehehe, so now you know a bit more about the famous Japanese dish of wasabi.
But this Wasabi-san from Microgaming isn't even made from horseradish! It doesn't give the 'oomph's and the 'aaah's as the real thing. This Wasabi-san is nothing but a copied version, or better known as a clone. Even the Cook doesn't look Japanese! Take a good look. He looks more Chinese than Japanese! And the Master, or the Owner of the restaurant, he doesn't even look like a Japanese, but I don't know what he really looks like in that icon of his. Might even be an ISIS guy with that goatee! Hahaha.
Yep, that green 'face' is the Wild symbol in this game, paying a nice 7500x the line bet for getting 5 of them, and substitutes for other symbols except the Scatter and the Bonus symbols. Nope, it doesn't do anything else, so you know what kind of a symbol it is. No need for me to keep repeating myself a million times. The word 'Wasabi' is the Scatter symbol, paying a very hot 400x the total bet for getting 5 of them, and getting 3 or more of the 'Wasabi' symbols trigger 10 free spins with all wins tripled, and more free spins can be retriggered too. Very nice! The Puffer fish is the Bonus symbol, it doesn't pay anything for itself, too bad, but getting 3, 4 or 5 of them on any active payline triggers the Bonus Round, whereby you pick 3, 4 or 5 fish to win cash prizes, from 36x up to 2500x the line bet. This Bonus game can be triggered during the free spins but the bonus wins are not tripled. The other symbols in the game pay from a low 500x to 75x the line bet for 5 of each kind. The regular symbols may have low values, but I would still rate the paytable as a good one.
It's a real pity that Wasabi-san couldn't afford me with nice good wins after playing this game many times. That good paytable could produce good wins, but which have eluded me ever since. All I could get from the Free Spins games were payouts of a very low 6x up to a decent 86x my bet amount, but nothing higher than that. The Bonus games paid poorly too, from 3x up to 18x my bet amount. The base game was a bit boring most of the time, with only the Bonus games kicking in to provide some excitement, whereas the Free Spins games were hard to get. Still a disappointing game for me personally.
