After all these years of playing slot games, I have realised that there isn’t any single Viking-themed game that I like, similarly with Oriental-themed games too. Don’t ask me why, but these games have hardly ever given me any worthwhile wins. Nonetheless, I do play such games, just for trying them out sake, and that goes for this Viking Age game too.

The first time I played Viking Age was some years ago. I found it to be very boring indeed, lost my deposit and bonus money, and I never gave it anymore play ever since, not until now. Playing with 30 paylines and with a 0.30 starting bet, it wasn’t to my liking straight off. Why? Simply because I could be playing some other games at the same 0.30 bet per spin but with 243 ways to win instead. Not only that, this game has an extremely low paytable, with only 10x the total bet as the highest paying symbol. There are also no Wild symbols, and both the Scatter and Bonus symbols are non-paying either. What a lousy offering indeed!

3 separate feature games can be won, by getting 3 or more of its corresponding symbols – the Runestone Doors, the Arm-wrestling Bonus Round and the Multiplier Free Spins. The Runestone Doors may award an Instant Cash Win, a Bonus Round or a Free Spins game, depending on which Runestone you pick. Getting 3 symbols of the Viking Lady would award only 6 free spins, with 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier, but only if that winning line has the same left and right multiplier symbol, otherwise no multiplier would be activated. Once again, what a damn lousy offering! As I found out later on, many of my free spins wins were indeed paid without any multiplier! Sheesh!

Honestly speaking, there isn’t anything that I like about this Viking Age game! Wins are always ridiculously small, mostly less than 2x bet amount, the 6 free spins never gave me any decent wins, and my only ‘decent’ win of 20x (if you can call this decent) came from one of the Arm-wrestling feature games. In short, this is one game to avoid, except for trying out sake.

Viking Age is a game from Betsoft software that I recently found out about. My first time with this game was when I had a no deposit bonus balance of around 50$, and since I've been playing Betsoft games a lot I decided to try this game too, also because I am a fan for nordic theme and I thought that a slot that is inspired by vikings would be a good fit for me.

From the first look I could say this slot is a standard game from Betsoft, it has 30 paylines, 0.60€ bets per spin, 3 bonus rounds from which one are free spins and last- this game has no wild symbol. I really enjoyed the intro video for this game, it gave me a nordic feeling and the video was well made. That being said, I was a little surprised that after the snow and ice from the video the slot design would be so green and sunny looking. I would have enjoyed if it would incorporate cold weather, as I think it fits better.

So far I've had two sessions with this slot but I know I won't be playing it in the future. To receive the bonus rounds, you need to get 3 symbols who represent each bonus. In my first session I had the balance of 50$ and I lost it all on this game, getting only few bonus rounds and all of them were free spins, second time I had lover balance but I didn't manage to increase it even a bit. The free spins are interesting as on both sides there are multipliers and if you have a win on the line that has them, you get your winnings multiplied, but the spins in general don't have multipliers. I've had about 10 free spin rounds and I haven't had a win over 10x not even once. Considering the fact that I always got only 6 spins, I think it's really hard to get a good win.

Then there are two other bonuses which award with coin winnings, one is a pick me bonus where you can also win free spins, and another one is a fight, where two vikings are hand wrestling and you need to pick your winner. This bonus has given me the biggest winnings overall which are only 15x bet. But also I think this game has low winning potential, so far I haven't even had a win of 10x bet on base game, as there are no wild symbols that would help to make winning combinations. Most of the time I had 6x bet winnings, if lucky then 8x and that isn't a good result at all.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this game, I don't really like the design, but at least the video was with good taste. Bonuses can be quite hard to trigger and even then they pay low. Low amount of free spins of which half are usually empty, no wild symbols just makes this game mediocre and not worth spending money on.

This time the old Viking civilization has been the inspiration of Betsoft Gaming to create Viking Age, a slot with 3D animations in the style of this excellent software provider.

In this game we must accompany a horde of Vikings, led by the beautiful Amma, on their adventures through the raging sea, cold mountains and broad valleys in search of treasure and lands to conquer. Amma is a Viking woman with red hair, nice curves and charisma that appears throughout the game to one side of reels to liven up and rush both in words and gestures, a well-established feature in Betsoft games.

The game format is the most used by Betsoft, 3 x 5 reels, 30 paylines, and many bet levels. Something different in Viking Age is the absence of wild symbol, which is compensated somewhat by the inclusion of three special features that offer good earning potential:
1) Multiplier free spin, activated with the emergence of 3 or more scatters with Amma's face, where some stone pillars located on either side of the reels revolve to give the player the opportunity to get a multiplier on each spin. For this to happen, the multiplier on the right must match with any on the left and additionally they must be at the same level than an active payline to multiply its winnings.
2) Bonus round, triggered by the appearance of 3 scatters with the image of the Vikings arms. Once you enable this feature, you must choose one of 2 Vikings who will test their strength in an arm wrestling competition and to win you need to toss a coin in a heads or tails game and you need to hit 3 times to win the challenge and the higher prize.
3) Runestone doors, triggered by the appearance of 3 or more scatters with the image of helmet where you should suggest to Amma which rune to choose; each rune hidden either an instant bonus, free spins or some access to the bonus round above. It's a win – win game
