Titans of the Sun: Hyperion

This is yet another one of those mythical themes that simply cannot go well with me. I have played Zeus, Hercules, Medusa, Hades, you name it, I've played it, but I've only played this Titans of the Sun game about 2 or 3 times before this, and I'm giving it another try again, just to refresh my memory. My last plays didn't go so good, in fact not even good at all, and I'm actually wondering how some players could actually get a good time on this game.

Titans of the Sun is the Wild symbol in the game, paying 333.3x the total bet for getting all 5 of them, which is good. It substitutes for other symbols except the Scatter symbol, but it doesn't double any wins with it. What a pity. It can become stacked or expanded when transformed by the Mystery symbols, but not on its own. The Titan Couple is the Scatter symbol, paying the usual 100x the total bet for 5 of them, and getting 3 or more Scatters trigger 15 free spins without any multiplier, but can be retriggered. Argh! I simply don't like it when more free spins cannot be retriggered, unless there are more additional levels within the Free Spins game itself, like those in Playtech's Fantastic Four Free spins, for example.

In the base game, Mystery symbols appearing on the reels can transform into any high or low symbols, but in the Free Spins game, they can transform into any high, low or Wild symbols. How I wish the Wilds could double all wins with it, which it doesn't. As for the other symbols, Hyperion pays 133.3x the total bet for getting 5 of them, and is stacked on all reels. The Horse pays 66.6x, the Phoenix pays 33.3x, and the others pay from 6.6x to 4x the total bet for getting 5 of each kind. A good paytable.

Well, my most recent play on this Titan of the Sun game didn't go well either, as I have always expected. The Mystery symbols were appearing on the wrong reels most of the time, without contributing to any significant wins. The stacked Hyperion symbols also never gave me any good wins at all, but the most disappointing moments all came from the Free Spins games, paying 7x, 10x and 11x my bet amount, which were ridiculously low. Only one Free Spins game gave a nice 2 retriggers, but all those extra 30 free spins were rather useless, giving a final payout of only 59x my bet amount. That was my best win on this game so far. Nothing more but disappointment for me.

I don't really know which game was released first, or if they came in the same package (which I doubt), but I wasn't expecting a disastrous paytable in Titans of the Sun – Hyperion. Yet, to my surprise, they share the same symbols, the look and the names. But the paytable here is something else. I was right when I said that this Theia was a complete disaster, and I'm afraid Microgaming is making silly mistakes by making clone games with the same pathetic paytable.

This is also a 5-reels 15-paylines video slot playable from 0.15 cents bet per spin. Hyperion symbol is stacked on all reels. I had a BIG WIN after just a few spins and it made me over 20 Euros on my 0.60 bet. I was super excited as I wasn't expecting this. The Stacked Mystery symbols add special note and feeling of excitment to this game and could reveal some really nice wins. When it transforms during the base game, it can turn into any symbol except the Wild, but during Free Spins bonus round, it might turn into Wilds, increasing winning chances. If you trigger 3 or more Scatters, it will start the Free Spins bonus round with 15 free spins.

5 Scatters pay 60x your total bet. Getting 5 Wilds pay 200x. Then comes Hyperion, and if you manage to collect 5 of Hyperion symbols, it guarantees a 80x win. I managed to trigger a Free Spins feature but it didn't bring any luck as it paid only 3.50 Euros. I also got the feeling that the Stacked Wilds are actually blocking possible wins. Well, that's not possible because something is wrong here. I say this mostly because I noticed that anytime Hyperion appears on the first and fourth reels, I wouldn't trigger any winning combinations, but it's not only this slot but widely noticeable across other Microgaming slots too. Actually, I have never paid attention to this before. Now, I open my eyes when it comes to the Stacked Wilds. This is a nice game and I would gladly play it again.

Titans of the Sun: Hyperion is one of the twin slots, the other is Titans of the Sun: Theia, that were published from Microgaming last year. I play these slots and try my luck very often lately with them since I try to have a huge win on both of them. I have manage it to have it on Theia but not yet on Hyperion. Although they are twin slots they have some important differences which make the slots game play very different. I would say that Hyperion is more medium variance slot from Theia but that just my opinion.

Anyway Titans of the Sun: Hyperion has 15 pay lines, with minimum bet of only 0,15 so I prefer to play it when I am low in balance. It has theme of ancient Greek mythology which I like but I find the graphics nothing too exciting, they are very decent and I believe they could have done a better job. I like that this slot has not got many symbols, only 3 high paying symbols, 5 letters, a wild and scatter. The high paying symbols can also be stacked.

The pay table on this slot is rather good as you can win 50 euro when you play with minimum bet and I find it much better that the pay table of its twin sister slot. When you have 3 or more scatters you win 15 free spins which can be retriggered. Unfortunately there is not a multiplier in free spins like it is on Theia but on the other hand I think that the free spins are more easily triggered on Hyperion.

Also there is a unique feature on both slots called stacked mystery symbols, where during spins you can have many sun symbols which all transform to the same symbol. This feature adds a lot to the excitement of the player. The mystery symbol can transform to any symbol except scatter and wild during base game and during free spins it can be transformed to wild too.

Many would say that Titans of the Sun - Hyperion is basically the same game as the Titans of the Sun – Theia, but I would not. This slot is way better. They are same graphically but the payouts are different. I was very disappointed when I was playing the other game, but this one has nothing to do with the other one. You can trigger the free spins here more often and the payouts during the base game are slightly higher. The theme is the same, but here we have Hyperion, Greek God as a main character.

This is a game that is run by Microgaming software and there are 5 reels and 15 pay lines. Hyperion, the fiery horse and the fiery bird are the main symbols here and they are the ones that will pay more too. The Titans of the Sun is the wild here and it substitutes for all other symbols in order to make a winning combination.The sun icon transforms into other icons during the base game and during the free spins it can turn into a wild and make some good winning combinations.

Free spins feature is triggered by hitting 3 or more scatter symbols. The most that I have got in the free spins was 80 x bet, which is not that bad at all. In this game the scatters appears very often so this game kind of let you keep your balance. There are not some big wins and great payouts but still while you are playing you manage to get your money back. If I had to make the judgment I would say that this is the better game from the two. I will definitely play this slot again. The sun symbol is my favorite it adds up to the mystery and the anticipation, and here it can turn into some other symbol not only in the dumb card symbols.

Titans of the sun: Hyperion is one of the newest games from Microgaming software provider. It was released along with Titans of the sun: Theia slot and I think it wasn't a wise thing to do. Both of these games look almost exactly the same and they have almost the same features. I do think that the design is really nice for this slot, but overall that's it.

It has 5 reels and 15 paylines and the minimum bets are 0.15€ per spin. From one side it's really nice to have a game that is so affordable and could be played with only few euro balance, but from the other side I haven't seen or experienced myself any decent winnings with such bets. It has free spins round, which is triggered by 3 or more scatters anywhere and then you get 15 free spins. The amount seems nice, but they have no multiplier and that's not good, and so far I haven't got any higher winnings than 40x bet at all.

This game is special because it has mystery symbols and that is unusual, but then again my experience shows that they almost never transfer into symbols that make good winning combinations. On main game they can transfer into any high and low symbol, but on free spins it can transfer into wilds as well.

So far I think this along with the Theia are decent releases, but I know I won't be spending much money on these games. Hyperion can't even give me 20x bet winnings in main game, while in free spins my best achievement was around 40x bet. When it comes to gambling, we all want to play games to achieve big winnings and this game doesn't seem to do that. I think Microgaming has done a good job in terms of design, but I think if this game and Theia would be one slot, it would be much better than just 2 average games they are now. I don't really recommend it and I wouldn't play it even with low balance.

Free spins have no multiplier and it makes them less interesting and desirable.
