Testament is a 5 reel and 243 ways slot from Play'n Go that was released last year. Although I am a big fan for Play'n Go games, when this game came out I wasn't particularly keen on trying it out. The reason for it was due to the game theme. The game is inspired by a rock-ish theme and it just didn't seem like something I would enjoy. But after trying it in some tournaments and seeing other players getting big wins, I started to play it more often and grew to like it. 

One of the reasons I really like this game is because it has several features that are activated by scatters. For 2 scatters you can get any of their 3 free spins features either one where wilds expand on the reels or stay frozen or where you get more ways to win. With that in mind, I haven't had any major wins from these features but they come up very often and you can get anywhere from 0x- 30x wins on average. And I can't really complain about it as it helps to keep a steady balance.

However, the feature I really enjoy is the Rise Up free spins bonus round which you get for 3 or more scatters. Then the goal is to get 9 scatters to unlock the Testament spins. If you get them, you will get 4 additional spins with 3124 ways to win and all the wilds that land on the screen will be sticky wilds. Because of this feature I have had a few 300x-400x bet wins. Of course, it can be a quite volatile game too and many times I have ended up with a 10x bet win from this feature. But regardless I find it very exciting.

Overall I quite enjoy the game. While the theme isn't really my thing, the design is simple yet vibrant. I also enjoy this game for low rolling as it can give nice and frequent wins. Would recommend trying, especially with a low balance.

I must admit this highly volatile offering from Play N Go is really addictive. The fact of knowing what is possible or the potential makes you come back for more. Although I know triggering the feature can take forever.

Testament comes with quite a few bonus features. You need to land 2 scatters anywhere on the reels. If you get 2 on a single base game spin, you will get 3 free spins with 1 of the following song features taking place:

• Cold Embrace feature – any wilds that appear on the reels are sticky for the duration of the 3 free spins

• Dark Roots of Earth feature – the skull symbol spreads up or down to give you more wilds on the reels

• Throne of Thorns feature – The grid expands in size to 4x5x6x5x4 meaning that you’ll play with 2,400 ways to win which increases your chances of winning more

If you manage to land 3, 4 or 5 scatters on a base game spin, you’ll trigger the Rise Up Spins feature. If you get 4 or 5 scatters will also give you a 5- or 20-times stake bonus. You get 9 free spins with the reels expanding to give you 2,400 ways to win.

9 spaces at the top of the grid are blocked off with stone blockers though. When a scatter symbol lands, it smashes a stone blocker which expands the reel by 1 space. If you smash all 9 stone blockers, you will go on to play the Testament Spins feature.

The testament spins feature is where the big money lies as you get 3 additional spins with sticky wilds. If a wild land on the reels, then it spread and become sticky. You can create massive wins if you lucky, although I only hit x200 maximum, but simply love this concept of the slot and the idea and design behind it.

What would happen, if Dragon Maiden and DoA had a child together? Well, I'd say it would be something like this slot, maybe wearing a cowboy hat, while headbanging through those punchy tracks from "Dark Roots of Earth", the 2012 release by known Californian metal outfit Testament, which the slot is based upon, both in terms of soundtrack and graphics.

Play 'n GO has upped the ante on this one compared to its obvious origin, the odd Dragon Maiden slot, which is a hard one to figure out (is it high volatile, and in this case: Will the bonus game ever pay big?).
Testament is not that hard to figure out in comparison. It has a max. payout of 20000x, which is a record for Play 'n GO slots.

To get anywhere near this kind of win, you'll need to trigger the "real" bonus game, which require min. 3 scatters. The so-called "Rise Up Spins" give you 9 initial spins, which can be converted into "Testament Spins", up to 9 of these too, if you're really, really, REALLY lucky. During these upgraded spins, any wild landing will expand and be sticky for the rest of the spins.

Needless to say, the sticky, expanding wilds are pretty hard to land, in true DoA tradition. But IF they do in sufficient degree, you'll be in for a treat. The dream hit on Testament is - again in true DoA style - to land a wildline, which pays 480x per spin for the wilds alone.

This won't be easy to do, at least I have personally not gotten anywhere close yet, in spite of around 30 bonuses on the slot. Like DoA, the wilds usually refuse to land where you need them. That said, the bonus is not overly hard to get, and the basegame is usually pretty easy on your balance for a high volatility slot. It's possible to run at a 65-80% RTP most of the time, while waiting for the bonus to roll in.

The "mini bonuses" help you along the way, as you get 3 feature spins, when landing two scatters. Either you get 3 spins with the landing wilds sticky, 3 spins with expanding wilds, or 3 spins with the reels expanding from a 243 ways to a 2400 ways setup, which can pay pretty decent, but of course no way near the 20000x potential.

But all in all, I do like this slot and will keep grinding it from time to time on a low betsize. I'll keep you posted on my progress in the screenshot section, haha!

Personally I don't dislike the metal rock theme, but for some slot players it might be a bit on the loud side. That's why I predict that Play 'n GO will pretty quickly present an Egyptian themed version of this outing, probably called Testament of Ra, Doom of Dead or something similar, hehe...
