Peek a Boo Slot

Peekaboo is one of the newest games from Microgaming software, as it was released earlier this month along with few other releases. Microgaming has been very busy providing players with new games each month and in December I saw a promo video for this slot and I was quite interested in this game, which is a thing I can't say too often about Microgaming's new work.

Technically this game really reminds me of their another recent released game Stardust. Simply because both of them are 40 payline slots and the free spins feature is alike. The reason I was interested in this game was the theme it has, as the name tells it is inpired by ghosts and I really like that. The game design is a bit childish but it looks really fun and pleasant for the eyes. I have played this game a few times now and I have to say I'm not really happy with the payouts.

Since the free spins aren't triggered by 3 scatters, it can take a while to collect the necessary symbols. Last time I played this game it took me nearly 200 spins to collect them. And although from one side it's really fun that from 40 line slot it changes into 1024 way game on free rounds, I don’t like that there are no multipliers. I do like the fact that each time you collect those necessary symbols, it adds a win to your "start win", which you receive at the beginning of free games. Most of the time it gives about 10x bet, but a few times I've had 20x bet winnings on it so it's way better than nothing.

I do like that the game is quite simple, as there is only free spins bonus. But for me it's quite disappointing because I can't seem to get any decent win. There is a good feature on free spins called spooke respin, so when there's a 3oak or 4ak combination, 4th and 5reel can be respinned. However, only a few times I've actually got 5oak winnings and still my best result from the free games is 40x bet win, even with the stacked wild symbols.

And speaking of payouts, I think it's really hard to get any decent win on base game and that's why I think this game can be a money eater. Most of the time I would get half bet or even lower winnings, which is better than an empty spin but still frustrating. And in my sessions only few times I would actually get 15x - 20x bet winnings, most of the time they are under 1€.

Overall I really enjoy this game aesthetically, but other than that this won't become a game I play regularly. Free spins take some time to trigger, but even so I haven't won any good amount in them. Therefore, I give this game 7/10.
