Luminous Life

Luminous Life is a game about deep sea creatures, the kind that we hardly ever see. There’s that ferocious looking fish with a light above its head, the top paying regular symbol in the game, and then there are several luminous jelly fish and smaller creatures I don’t even know what they are. The game is set in a deep blue background, looking cool and nice, but most of the regular symbols are a little bit too small in size for my liking. Wish they were all of the ferocious fish size...bigger, easier to see, and easier to differentiate.

It’s basically a ‘hold and win’ kind of game, whereby each win retriggers another free respin, until no new win is encountered. Playing with 243 ways to win, but with a minimum starting bet of only 20 cents, it is an affordable game to play regularly. However, the game is not designed as a high volatility game, so most wins are mediocre at best, hardly ever going over 50x the stake amount. Big-win hunters may not like this game unfortunately.

There are only two feature games in Luminous Life. One is the ‘hold and win’ Respin, the other is a Free Spins feature game, awarding 5 free spins but without any win multiplier. It should have been 5 sure-win free spins, as in Dolphin Reef, or as in Pimped, but it isn’t. I’ve had a few spins that didn’t pay anything at all during that 5 free spins, so I ended up getting a disappointingly low win.

The ‘hold and win’ Respin feature works both in the base game and during free spins. Any winning combination gets one free respin, so two or more different symbols may be held in position during that respin. Needless to say, the more different symbols being held, the smaller the wins would be. You need to get only one kind of held symbol for better and bigger wins.

The Wild symbol is a very low-paying one, only 250 coins per 5-of-a-kind win, whilst the ferocious Fish pays only 100 coins. In play, getting 5 Fish paid only 2.5x the stake amount, so 5 Wilds would pay only 6.25x. That is extremely low... So you can imagine how all other wins would pay, in spite of the 243 ways to win! To make matters worse, the Wild symbol can only appear during a Respin, and that greatly reduces the winning chances. Nonetheless, Luminous Life can be quite fun to play, but only if you can endure the consistently low payouts.
