House of Fun Review - Editor’s Impressions
The House of Fun game delivers spooky and thoroughly creepy gameplay, ideal for lovers of all things scary and ghost stories. It tells the story of two kids, Paul and Jane, trapped in a haunted house and trying to escape its horrifying residents.
Playing this game, we found frequent small wins and several bonus features. With 100 spins set at £1.50 per spin, we ended up £10 above our bankroll at the end of the spin cycle. These winnings were primarily due to the four small bonus features we landed while playing, helping us make a small profit over our starting amount.
Besides testing the slots, we also explore their features, characteristics, and graphics in our slots reviews. In this House of Fun slot review, we braved the spooky mansion to find the answers our UK players want on what’s available with this game.
Overview of House of Fun Game
This Betsoft title is a five-reel online slot with three rows and various creepy characters on the reels. The characters all depict house residents, with the high-paying symbols as the three shady looming men. The low-paying symbols are a Cheshire-looking cat and household items like a gargoyle statue, candelabra, portrait, and mirror.
There are also three bonus symbols: the Jackbox, Mad Hatter, and Door Knocker symbols. The House of Fun real money game has a betting system where you choose the bet level, coin value, and the number of active paylines. There are 30 slot paylines in total and five bet levels. Your total bet can start at £0.30 and go up to £150 per spin.
House of Fun RTP, Payout and Volatility
The game’s RTP is 94.96%, below the 96% industry average. It has medium volatility, so the gameplay is balanced between frequent wins and significant winning amounts, as we saw during our test spins. However, Betsoft doesn’t state any maximum win in the game’s paytable.
House of Fun Graphics and Gaming Experience
This digital House of Fun slot machine delivers a mix of 2D and 3D graphics. The art for the symbols looks like 2D art of 3D characters, but the mini bonus features in the slot implement 3D graphics. The bouncing jack-in-the-box and running children opening doors are all 3D features, making this one of the interesting 3D slots.
The game’s theme follows Paul, Jane, and their dog, Chip, as they escape the house filled with freaks and frights. However, there’s no background music, only sound effects when the reels spin, wins land, and features trigger. This lack of music might make the slot slightly dull compared to other titles, but it also adds to the game’s ominous atmosphere. It makes us think of the provider’s other title, Frankenslot’s Monster.
House of Fun Bonus Features
During the base game, there’s no dedicated Wild symbol, but three bonus symbols each award a unique feature. However, these features are base game bonuses, with no traditional Free Spins feature.
House of Fun Base Game Bonuses
The first bonus feature is the Jackbox feature, which triggers when the Jackbox symbol appears on reels two, three, and four. The jack-in-the-box pops out and fills the middle reel, becoming a Wild. Players get six Free Spins, which play on the same reels minus the centre reel, which the bouncing toy fills.
The second feature is the Mad Hatter, which activates when three or more adjacent Mad Hatter symbols land on the first three paylines. The activated feature, Mad Click Me, will turn the Mad Hatter symbols into Click Me ones. You click on these symbols to collect cash prizes, only stopping once you find the Collect option among the signs.
Lastly, the Door Knocker bonus is a mini-game in the slot and triggers after three or more Door Knocker symbols land on the reels. This feature takes you to a 3D animation of the kids, dog, and five doors. You must click on the doors to find the right ones for the kids to escape.
Wrong doors will have the jack-in-the-box scaring the kids and giving you cash rewards, and you can press on the same doors multiple times. The game ends once you click on the right door, helping them escape.

Summary of House of Fun - Three Exciting Bonus Features
This Betsoft slot delivers a creepy yet thrilling title, though it might look old-fashioned to modern titles. However, its graphics perfectly fit the game’s theme and provide spooky gameplay. Still, before you scare yourself and try to escape a freaky house, consider some tips.
With medium volatility, you’ll likely experience a mix between frequent and high wins, though it all depends on your luck. Still, ensure your bankroll can easily sustain your bet over several spins, as your stake doesn’t have to be significant to play. Also, we recommend you always play with all 30 paylines active, as it increases your chances of higher wins. If you are playing with a lower stake, bet less and it can be a good idea to decrease the paylines.
Overall, we enjoyed testing this game and recommend it to UK players. If you like what you read or are ready to help two kids and a dog escape questionable characters, then test the game using our House of Fun slot demo to see whether you enjoy the gameplay and features.
I have always enjoyed watching horror scary movies, and I've also always enjoyed playing games themed on scary eerie things. This House Of Fun game from BetSoft looks very nice from the outside - the graphics are simply astonishing to look at. and needless to say, I had my first play on this game some years back. How long ago, gees, I cannot remember now, but that's not important anyway. What is important is that after that first play, I never played it again! Why? Hmm, after reading this review, you would know exactly why, hehehe.
As usual, this House Of Fun game plays with 30 paylines, and as usual too, there isn't any Wild symbol in the game. Argh! These BetSoft game designers must really hate Wild symbols, because they always omit them in their games! The Box is the Scatter symbol, a dumb symbol for not paying anything for itself, but getting 3 or more of them anywhere on the reels triggers 'Jack's Free Spins' game. Jack is the boy in the game, and Jane is the girl, but you already know that, hahaha. During the free spins, reel 3 becomes a Jack-in-the-box Wild Reel, not Jack the boy of course, and remains on the reel for the duration of the free spins. However, this Wild Reel doesn't double wins with it, what the argh!
The Jester is the Bonus symbol, that's the guy with the long legs, if you don't already know. It's another dumb symbol, with no payouts whatsoever for getting them, but getting 3 or more of this Jester symbol on active payline 1, 2 or 3, triggers the 'Mad Click Me' feature game. Why 'Mad Click Me'? Click on those 'Click Me' symbols and see if they don't make you mad! The cash prizes I got were so small they certainly made me mad! The Door Knocker is the Bonus symbol, another dumb one, and getting 3 or more of them on any active payline triggers 'The Escape Bonus' game. Pick one of the 5 doors to see if Jack and Jane can escape. Keep picking until they manage to escape and ends the game. Is this game any better than the 'Mad Click Me' game? Are you kidding me? It paid me even less than what that 'Mad Click Me' game did!
And finally, we come to the paytable. Without needing to elaborate on the various symbols, just let me say that the paytable for this House Of Fun game is one of the lowest I have ever come across, probably even the lowest of the lot! Getting 5 of the highest paying symbol would only pay 150 credits, which is only 5x the total bet amount! I have come across highest paying symbols that pay only 8.5x up to 10x the total bet amount, but 5x? What the argh! How the heck can anyone ever win on this game!
Well, for a scary game that I wished I could like playing, turned out to be a blardy scary game that only knows how to pay very small peanuts! Yes, those very small wins do come often, keeping my credits balance going down slowly, but what I want to see is chances of my credits balance going up, which it never could, or did. Honestly, if not because I quite like the game, I may even rate this House Of Fun game with just 1 Star! The payouts are simply that bad!
