I actually gave a sigh when I saw yet one more robotic-themed game – this time it’s from Quickspin, entitled Bigbot Crew, playing with 5-reels, 4-rows and 40 paylines, but thankfully enough (for me at least), the minimum starting bet is kept at a low 0.20 per spin. What I do like about this game is the various features available - the Bigbot Respins, the Nudging Wild symbol, the Full Wild Reels, and plus the Free Spins games – so all these should keep any player happy and occupied for some time, hehehe.

However, after looking through its paytable, it turned out not to be so full-moon-bright after all! Why? Well, getting all 5 Wild symbols would only pay 10x the total bet amount (argh!), all the other symbols have even lower win values, but worse of all, there aren’t any win multipliers at all, not even for the free spins, and the free spins cannot even be retriggered! Yet, the maximum possible win is indicated as 5000x the total bet amount! Hmm, looking at that, I simply cannot imagine how that kind of a win could ever be achieved, and I couldn’t even be bothered to try to figure it out – to me, that’s simply a mission impossible win!

Game wise, yes, Bigbot Crew can be quite interesting to play, with the Nudging Wild feature that nudges a partial Wild Reel up or down to land as a full Wild Reel. Two of such Wild Reels would trigger the Bigbot Respins feature, with the Wild Reels being sticky but moving to different random locations at each respin. Yes, it is possible to get all 5 Wild Reels during the Bigbot Respins, as well as during the free spins (starting with 8 initial free spins, with each appearing new Wild Reel adding 1 more free spin). However, just let me remind you that getting all those 5 Wild Reels would only pay 400x the total bet, which is ridiculously low, if I may say so! How to get to 5000x? Go try and figure it out yourself! Hahaha.

What’s my best win on this game so far? Well, I did get 3 full Wild Reels during one of the free spins game, but after 10 free spins, the final total win was a very low 116x. I would have expected a win of at least 200x, but it is obviously not easy to get with this Bigbot Crew game!

Lately, Quickspin has been treading new ground with slots like "Tiger's Glory", "Ivan & The Immortal King" and "Divine Dreams", and the provider has generally gotten a lot of praise for upping the volatility of its recent slots.

But the journey towards slots with higher potential arguably began with this one. "Bigbot Crew" is tightly related to Quickspin's prior release, "Sakura Fortune" in terms of gameplay, but there are certain important differences: While "Sakura..." is limited to having wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4, "Bigbot..." can have fully stacked wilds on all 5 reels. On "Sakura..." you can trigger the bonus during respins, which is unfortunately not possible on "Bigbot...".

"Bigbot Crew" has a max. theoretical payout of 5200x per spin, which would require the player to hit 5 robot wilds - fully or partially - on the first spin in the bonus. This is of course not very likely, but returns of 500x-2400x are possible, which still, for most slot players, probably will seem unreal, when considering it's a Quickspin release.

As always with Quickspin slots, the visuals and sound effects are great. Some players may not like the slightly juvenile theme of this robotic outing, but it's very much up my alley, I must admit. The basic design is a 4x5 grid with 40 paylines, exactly like "Sakura Fortune".

Having played a lot of "old school" Quickspins, as well as the new and more volatile ones, I consider "Bigbot Crew" the best compromise between potential and actually winning something decent once in a while. For me, this has become quite a favourite, although I haven't yet hit the elusive full screen of robot wilds. But I'm planning to!

Can't think of any major dislikes on this one... Can be a bit teasy at times - but ain't that just the case with practically any online slot, you'd like to trigger the much desired free spins on?
