Ace of Spades is a pleasant little traditional slot game from Play’n’Go and I like its little different symbol usage method. The slot as its name shows has card elements as symbols where the Spades is the main French card suit. The other ones are numbers, shamrock and crown and at first sight maybe it looks strange but they really fit great to each other and cause an impressive comprehensive appearance. It is very colorful but it’s still elegant at the same time and I have to mention the game is well-designed and doesn’t have any useless visual components so I surely say it is a real correct work.

The 3-reel, 1-payline machine can be played from just €0.25 up to €15 per spin using 1, 2 or 3 coins but based on my experience playing it without the maximum number of coins leads player nowhere. Only the 3 coin bet works correctly as I noticed when the stake was less than that the game started to give longer losing streaks and the higher paying winning combinations were simply disappeared. It is a strange tendency for me because other machines mainly behave exactly the opposite way and raising the bet usually results similar symptoms.

Anyway, 3 Spades on the line means the Jackpot is won and the player’s account is increased with 2500 coins. Other than paying the top prize of the game this figure also can replace other to help the winning combination to be completed and when it is happened the wins are multiplied by x2 or x4 depending how many of them are on the line.
Unfortunately, the Spades doesn’t pay in itself and doesn’t act as the less paying symbol so it just rewards if it’s a part of a winning combination. The less paying single Shamrock doesn’t have that restriction and doubles the wins if it appears alone regardless to the other two cards (if there’s any) on the payline. There’s a strange combination that relatively often appear and first I didn’t find its accurate pay information on the paytable, namely if the 3 symbols on the winning line are J, Q and Spades it pays as ‘Any Three J’. I later understood this kind of win needs a J and two identical symbols on the center line.

I still have a little problem realizing this kind of wins but it is better if I know everything but the wins wouldn’t show up.
My real problem here is the little differences between the wins. I mean there are 7 combinations paying from x2 to x40 of line bet and for example 3 J’s and 3 Shamrock award exactly the same prize without any difference. I think there must be bigger gap between them and overall better paying combinations. Otherwise, it’s a good, solid machine with characterized interface and normal game working so it is has the ability to be a fair partner and an entertaining game.
