Believe it or not, but I just came to know about this game recently, thanks to Casumo for giving me 15 free spins to play on it. I thought it was a new game, but I found out that there was an earlier version, Gold Trophy, so this game is the sequel to that. Playing with 20 paylines, this Play'nGo game offers selectable lines to play, which I like very much, unlike most new games that play with fixed play lines. It is also new to me that Play'nGo has 20 paylines games. I thought they only do 10 and 15 paylines games, hehehe.
Sadly though, the graphics used in Gold Trophy 2 aren't interesting at all. They are looking rather bland and not vibrant as I would like them to be. No doubt green is the colour for golf, but it doesn't mean that every icon has to be dull, because I've seen one golf game by another provider that has very nice colourful icons. Wish this game could be like that. Anyway, the Gold Trophy is the Wild symbol in the game, paying a nice 5000x the line bet for 5 of them, doubling all wins with it, and substituting for other symbols except for the Scatter symbol. The Cheque is the Scatter symbol, paying a better-than-usual 200x total bet for getting 5 of them, and getting 3 or more Scatters trigger 15 free spins with all wins tripled. The free spins can be retriggered up to 60 free spins, meaning, 3 retriggers within one Free Spins game, which is much better than the usual 20 free spins in other Play'nGo games, but definitely not better than the best. Safari Heat by Playtech, for example, can be retriggered up to 20 times, or more, and I've also seen some other games that has an unlimited number of retriggers. Perhaps Play'nGo should start considering this for their future games.
The Flag symbol pays 750x, the Golfer pays 750x too, the Golf Buggy pays 500x, the Golf Club pays 250x, the Golf Ball pays 250x too, and the rest pay from 150x to 100x, all per line bet for getting 5 of each kind. The Wild and Scatter symbols have good win values, but the others are unfortunately on the lower side, so I'll rate this paytable as an average one but on the low side. The maximum single possible win isn't that big, being getting 5 Wilds in the free spins, for a 750x total bet win. so the game isn't a high variance game but a medium one.
My very first play on Gold Trophy 2 reminds me of how Play'nGo games would usually play, with lots of empty non-paying spins. I've lost about $30 of my deposit money before getting the first Free Spins game, which paid a win of 41x my bet amount. Not big but fair enough. The second Free Spins game came not too long after that, but paid a lower win of just 15x. The third Free Spins game took a little longer to come, but paid a better win of 44x. From thereon, it went down all the way to zero balance, with no chance of making any win whatsoever. A little disappointing for me, but expected of Play'nGo games, of which I'm already becoming familiar with. Gold Trophy 2 needs more playing to ascertain its true capabilities, but I doubt it would ever pay big enough to satisfy big-win hunters like me.
