Fortune Girl is 5 reels and 15 pay-lines video slot powered by Microgaming software provider. This slot is yet another slot inspired with mysterious Orient. A new game at Casumo since several days back, back only came into Askgamblers' games directory very recently, so I quickly took the opportunity to write a review before my memory goes to sleep, hehehe. As usual, I get to try out new games at Casumo regularly, thanks to their regular weekly free spins offers, otherwise there'd be way too many new games that I would not have played on yet. Anyway, Fortune Girl is one of the latest releases from Microgaming, playing with 15 paylines, with a very cute Japanese girl icon. However, she isn't the main character in the game, so she isn't the Wild symbol as I had expected her to be. This Fortune Girl is all about making your fortune with Mystery symbols instead.

The logo is the Wild symbol, paying a very low 350x the line bet for getting 5 of them. It substitutes for other symbols except for the Scatter symbol, but doesn't do anything else - no doubling of wins, no stacking in the base game, and no expanding either. It's not only uninteresting, it's dumb as well. The Scatter is the only symbol in the game that can have all 15 symbols appearing at once, for which it pays a very nice 1200x the total bet. Getting 5 Scatters pay only 3x, and getting 3 or more Scatters trigger 14 free spins with Super Stacked Mystery symbols. This is the only time to get all that 15 Scatter symbols. With every 3 new Scatters appearing during the free spins, the multiplier is increased up to a maximum of 5x, so there's no retriggering of the Free Spins game, but it increases the maximum possible win to 6000x the total bet, if you can get all 15 Scatters with that 5x multiplier during the free spins of course. A once-in-a-lifetime possibility!

The Circular Doors is the Mystery symbol, looking more like a coin symbol. It comes Stacked in the base game, transforming into any other symbol except the Wild symbol, but is Super Stacked during the free spins and can transformed in Wild symbols as well. I don't think it would be possible to transform into 15 Wild symbols, but I may be wrong. Anyway, getting all 15 Wild symbols during the free spins, with that 5x multiplier, would only pay 1750x the total bet amount, much less than getting 15 Scatter symbols. That cute Japanese girl pays 250x, the Chest pays 200x, the Handbag pays 150x, the Dumplings pay 120x, and the rest pay from 80x to 15x, all per line bet for getting 5 of each kind.

The paytable? Hmm, this is indeed perplexing. The possibility of getting a huge win is there, for which a 6000x total bet win is excellent, but in actual normal play, the payouts would only be low to mediocre most of the time, because all the symbols have very low win values. Nonetheless, I would rate the paytable as low. For the few lucky players, it may even be a very good paytable.
Well, it looks like I'm far away from being one of those few lucky players. My first play was a short session, playing with some credits won from another game, but even with that, I managed to get a good feel of the game and to see how it played and paid. In simple words, the game sucks! For me that is, because games with Mystery symbols have never given me any win so far.

Because of its title, I came to think that “Fortune Girl” was a video slot aimed mainly at the female audience, but judging by that sexy little doll, I would say that its target market is rather the male audience; I'm really not sure if the theme of this slot was the real reason why I decided to give this slot a whirl, this one looks like another Asian themed game; so I think the curiosity to know a little more about this new slot released by “Microgaming” it was the real reason.

This is another slot equipped with the “Mystery Symbols” feature, where these symbols usually appear grouped and then turn into any of the other regular symbols of the game, and in fact, these can also turn into scatter symbols and even into wilds, but the latter only during free spins.

Frankly, Mystery Symbols has not been one of my favorite features in other slots since they often turn into the symbol less convenient for the player; in Fortune Girl slot, this feature seems to be a little more kind, but still did not end up convincing me definitively since today, often, these special symbols seemed to turn into the symbols of lower price when they actively participated in the formation of some lines.

For its part, the round of free spins did not seem to me to be such a great feature either because it turned out to be a rather difficult round to be unleashed, or at least that was how I experienced it during my debut with this game today, when I could gain access to these 14 spins only once; in addition, my total wins during this round were totally disappointing; only $2.13 betting $0.15 per spin; that's less than 15x my total bet.

The paytable also had part of the fault of the continuous and definitive collapse of my balance; I think special features of “Fortune Girl” slot are not really good enough for Microgaming decided to weaken prices per line that way.

In short, another new slot to be left in the cold and powerful hands of oblivion, or at least so will be in my case.
