The Star Station is the Wild symbol, paying only 1000x the line bet for 5 of them, but doubles all wins with it. As usual, the Wild symbol doesn't substitute for the Scatter symbol, which also carries a low value of only 50x the total bet for getting 5 of them. The other symbols pay from 1000x to 100x the line bet, making the paytable a low one. Getting 3 or more Scatter symbols award a choice of 2 feature games - Space Attack and Planetary Assault. Space attack awards 5 free spins with up to 5 random Wilds, and the Free Spins game can be retriggered, whilst the Planetary Assault is a 'Pick And Win' game, whereby you pick a Drone to shoot down, one at a time, to win a cash prize, and you go on shooting the Drones until all 4 Shields have been used up. Getting all 20 Drones awards an additional special 50x total bet prize. Not a lot, I must say, and I never got that far anyway, hahaha.
What I like most about this Microgaming's Drone Wars game is that the paylines can be selected, allowing me to play with whatever minimum bets that I choose, very much like my favourite Supe It Up game. And as always, I started my game play with small bets, usually 19 paylines at 0.01 line value, until the game plays well enough for me to play with all the 25 paylines. I managed to get several of the feature games, played on both the Space Attack and the Planetary Assault games alternately, but 'pick and win' or 'shoot them down' games have seldom been any good for me. I got better wins from the Space Attack free spins, but couldn't get any retriggers so far.
The nice and good wins have eluded me that day, managing to get only up to 72x my bet amount, but I know that much better wins are indeed possible. However, forget about getting huge wins on this game - it simply isn't possible - because there aren't any multipliers to increase the win amounts, and the symbol values doesn't permit it either. Nonetheless, playing the game was fun and entertaining and I enjoyed playing Drone Wars so far.
