Chinese New year is still several months to go from now, but this Chinese New Year game from Play'nGo has been around for about 2 to 3 years, only that I have not played it until very recently. Generally speaking, Play'nGo games tend to be either good or bad for me, don't ask me why, but that's how things are naturally. I have a few Play'nGo games that have been good to me, but I also have a few that were completely disastrous whenever I played it. As for this game, well, all I can say for now is that it wasn't that bad and it wasn't that good either. Only more plays on the game could determine which one it would be, but for now, I'll skip finding that out.

The graphics in the game are pretty nice but not outstanding, and all the symbols in the game are taken from the Chinese zodiac animals. Not surprising of course, since the Chinese New Year is based on Chinese Astrology. The Tiger, the Wild symbol, pays a nice 5000x the line bet for getting 5 of them, but the Bonus symbol, the Dragon, doesn't pay anything at all, except to trigger off a Bonus game. The Monkey is the Scatter symbol, also a non-paying symbol, that serves to trigger off the Free Spins game. The other symbols pay from 1000x the line bet (Rat) down to 100x the line bet (Pig) for getting 5 of each kind. Not really a good paytable, just an average one.

To start off the Free Spins game, a wheel is spun to determine how many free spins you can get, and also to determine which one of the animal symbols would become the Extra Scatter. This symbol will pay as scatters and not as payline winning symbol, which improves the overall payout potential of the game. Sadly though, more free spins cannot be won and the Free Spins game cannot be retriggered either. What a waste! I've never liked any game that doesn't offer retriggers, simply because there wouldn't be any further chances of getting better wins. What that Free Spins game pays is all you can get, and that usually sucks!

In the Bonus game, there are 5 fireworks symbols which you need to pick one at a time to win instant cash prizes. Get a firework that doesn't work and that's the end of the Bonus game. This can end on the second pick, but it usually ends on the third pick. If you're real lucky, you may get to pick all 5 of them for the best win of up to 150x the total bet amount. For a Bonus game, that's a nice good win potential. Most other Bonus games wouldn't pay more than 50x the total bet amount.

My biggest dislikes on this game are the non-paying Scatter and Bonus symbols, and the no retriggering of the Free Spins game. It all reduces the additional winning chances, thereby decreasing the excitement in the game on the whole. My best win on the game so far is only a miserable 114x, and it was pretty hard even to get any wins exceeding 50x my total bet amount. Not a game to my liking, unfortunately.

Chinese New Year is a video slot game from Play N` Go. The first time I played this game I started placing bets that were only 0.15 euros per spin. I wanted to test the slot first and see if it is worth the risk or not. I continued playing for an hour and still did not raise my bet. I got some kind of vibe that if I raise the bet I will start losing the money, so I wanted to play safe. I had a good gaming experience and my balance was going up and down but nothing drastically though.

Chinese New Year is a 5 reels and 15 pay lines video slot game and the theme is more than obvious a Chinese one. The highest paying symbol in this game is the tiger. If you are lucky enough to get 5 on an active pay line your balance will increase, actually it will be multiplied by 5000 x your bet. I never got more than 3 tigers on an active pay line and this win is not that bad either.

There are 2 features in the Chinese New Year video slot game. Most of the times I was activating the Firework Bonus feature. You need 3 dragon symbols, and they appear only on the third, fourth and the fifth reel. Then you have to shoot fireworks where it is possible to win 150 x bet. I never won anything higher than 30 x bet and I activated the feature numerous times.

The monkey symbol activates the free spins feature. I managed to activate this bonus round only once. I got 3 monkey symbols on the first, second and the third reel. This is a very interesting feature and it is not like the simple free spins where you find spinning of the reels only. I won only 20 x bet, so I cannot say that I was happy with the animations because that is not the reason why I play online slots.

Play'N Go is now a known software for video slots. I happened to love a few games of this software, for example: Energoonz and the new comer Golden Ticket! I also love Wild Blood (not at first).

On the look of the game Chinese New Year, this game could me my next favorite game, so I thought. I love the layout and the sound FX but that's all, yes that's correct!

I played this game at one of my favorite online casinos and to be 100 percent honest I think this game could be better, the payout is average (not bad but not good either for a 15 paylines video slot).

The most time I played this game I won the fire works bonus game quite a lot but unfortunately the winnings from it are always disappointing got it, it's too low but it's probably because the bonus round is easy to trigger. On the second hand, the free spins feature is really hard to get. I had a lot of chances to trigger it but it never came, yes never. First I thought it was just bad luck but I have played this game about 8 times and none of those gave me a free spins bonus round, none. We all know that Thunderkick's games have low payout and sometimes the bonus rounds most of the time disappointing and you know what? I'd rather play those game than play Chinese New Year.

It's almost the worst game ever but that's my opinion, maybe other people had more luck than I am. Sadly I had to add this game to my worst online video slots list. Don't get me wrong, Play'n Go is a great software but not all of their games is great. I find Thunderkick is a little bit better than Play'n Go.

I would not recommend this game to my friends or my fellow gamblers but if you don't believe me my advice to you is to try this game but play with the lowest bet (with max paylines of course).

5 stars!
