“Top Cat” was produced by “Hanna-Barbera” studios and it was one of the most popular animated television series broadcast during my childhood, so I think that’s the reason why I initially felt particularly attracted by the theme of this slot.
The structure of this slot is 5 x 3 reels and it is provided with 20 paylines, 14 betting levels ranging from $0.20 to $500 per spin, and a wild symbol that works as a substitute for other standard symbols.
The theoretical RTP of this game is 92,493% plus the Jackpot King Promotional Pot, and its median volatility facilitates the use of strategies based on increasing and decreasing bet levels intending to sustain our balance for longer, and why not, also aiming to make a profit from it in the long run.
Payouts coming from the formation of regular lines during the base game seem acceptable to me, but the best of this video slot is its enormous collection of special features that, if they happen at right times, they have the ability to lead the way to our success.
Main special features are grouped into two main groups:
- Call or Nothing: This feature can be triggered randomly each time Top Cat get out from the trash; then one of the following four features may be activated: Choo’s Piano Wilds, Benny’s Colossal TV’s, Brain’s Water Wilds, or Spook’s Mice is Nice.
- The Master Plan: this feature is activated with the appearance of three bonus symbols that occur on reels 1, 3 and 5 only; then we must choose one of the five plans explained by Top Cat, and every plan gives us access randomly to one of the following features: Cash Picker Bonus, Maharajah Heist!, Diner Free Spins, Dibble’s Free Spins, and Construction Site Wilds!
Before starting your Master Plan round, you have the possibility to make a bet in order to try to change to a more promising feature, you can do this using the “TC's Bonus Gamble” feature by selecting the feature you want; after this the arrow turns and if it stops inside the green zone, then you gain the right to play the round you’re betting on; if the arrow stops inside the yellow zone, then you will be awarded an instant prize called “Booby Prize”, which in my case has never been greater than 20x my total bet.
There is a separate feature that happens very often called “Fancy Fancy's Hot Dog Respins,” this feature is triggered when a full stacked wild happens on reel 5, then this hot-dog-shaped wild starts to move left one reel at a time during each respin until it gets the reel 1.
Top Cat is a slot I really enjoyed, I think it has a totally fair game system, so I think it is a slot to be taken seriously if what you want is to win big; if on the other hand, what you want is to have a good time, this game is also a good choice because with all these features this video slot definitely will never be boring. I think Top Cat really deserves a chance.
