The International Casinos Day is on 15 May and we’ve decided to create a mini-series with the idea to share some fun facts about different casinos.
Starting from the beginning, we invite you to step with us into the world’s oldest casino! At the end of the tour, there’s a small surprise waiting for you.
Casino di Venezia (Ridotto) Opened in 1638
Living in the 1600s in Venice, Italy, was pretty fun (it was probably gruesome for the majority, but let us romanticise about it a bit) as the residents back then witnessed a historic moment.
The opening of the first casino was a grand affair. Known as Ridotto di San Moisè, the casino offered several games such as biribissi (lottery-like game) and basetta (card game).
The casino was more than just a gambling house. The social aspect was strong in the 1600s Venice (no smartphone, so you had to talk to others) and people would hang out, eat, party, win a fortune or lose a fortune. If only those walls could talk…
Unfortunately, the casino closed in 1774 as a part of larger reforms led by Giorgio Pisani. But don’t despair because the casino would reopen later on and it exists today under the name of Casino di Venezia.
Entry At Ridotto Was Exclusive
Not everyone could enter Ridotto. But those who did had to wear masks so nobody would recognise them. Nowadays, it’s easier to enter and enjoy your favourite casino games.
Traveling to Italy to visit the oldest casino is worth it, but the organisation can be too much. Until you organise your trip, Vavada Casino invites you to create your account and claim 20 Free Spins using the promo code:

Don’t worry, you won’t have to answer any questions regarding Ridotto or know the year the casino was founded. Copy-pasting the code is enough to get the exclusive bonus.
