LeoVegas Group has secured three B2B software licences from Swedish national gambling regulator Spelinspektionen to develop and supply gaming software in the country. The licences are limited to a three-year period, and they all come into effect on 1 July 2023.
What Will the Licences Bring to the Company?
LeoVegas Group was required to obtain B2B software licences to comply with the regulations from the Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, which is looking to regulate the gaming landscape further. The reform brought stricter regulations in the field of marketing and customer protection but also higher gambling taxes.
The three licences are secured for the Group’s Blue Guru Games game studio and two other technology platforms, and it will allow them to work with other companies to expand the supply of the iGaming software in Sweden.
The Significance of the B2B Licences
LeoVegas Chief Executive Officer Gustaf Hagman pointed out the importance of introducing B2B software licences in Sweden:
We welcome the introduction of B2B licences, a decisive step towards mitigating the impact of key gaming software being simultaneously provided to licensed operators and unlicensed operators targeting Swedish players.
“With the new regulations in force, it is now critical that authorities focus on those suppliers deliberately undermining the Swedish licensing system by facilitating unlicensed gaming,” Hagman concluded.
