GambleAware Commissions Project to Extend Residential Rehabilitation Provision

GambleAware Commissions Project to Extend Residential Rehabilitation Provision

GambleAware is delivering a three-year project pilot to extend the National Gambling Treatment Service (NGTS) provision of residential rehabilitation for anyone suffering from gambling disorders.

The Responsible Gambling charity has commissioned Adferiad Recovery and is working in partnership with Gordon Moody to provide rehabilitation to adults that are displaying gambling disorders as well as other effects associated with gambling like alcohol and substance abuse.

The Grant Award Process

The outcome of their recent award process now means that individuals will be able to run these rehabilitation programs at their own pace with input from both family and friends. The programs will include detoxification that will be medically managed and acute mental health support. The project is GambleAware’s latest attempt in tackling issues that surround gambling-related harms.

Individuals can run the programs at their own pace with input from family and friends.

GambleAware’s latest project outlines an ongoing partnership between two organisations that share the same values, skills, and expertise. Anna Hargrave, the chief commissioning officer at GambleAware, said: “Adferiad Recovery and Gordon Moody’s proposal identified clear opportunities that can be delivered through a collaborative approach.

“We are pleased to have awarded this grant to these two highly experienced organisations and see it as an important step towards increasing the capacity and effectiveness of the National Gambling Treatment Service to ensure many more people get the help and support they need.”

Getting Help

Anyone who needs advice on responsible gambling can find help. The National Gambling Treatment Service offers a wide range of tools to help players gain back their control. They’re available to offer help to players who feel that gambling is taking up too much of their life. The National Gambling Treatment look at questions like:

  • Have you bet more than you can afford to lose?
  • Have people commented on your betting or said you might have a gambling problem?
  • Have you felt guilty about gambling?

Anyone who answers yes to these questions can benefit from help from the NGTS. They offer free and confidential advice as well as emotional support over the phone which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If some players don’t feel comfortable talking over the phone they can also use their live chat facility.

Their agents are professionally trained to listen to anyone affected.
