One fine day, some months ago, I received a promotional email in my mailbox, with a free spins offer to play without needing any deposit, on their new game Zodiac. I can't quite remember which casino it was, but it did mentioned about my zodiac sign, so it was probably linked to one of the casinos that I already have an account with. If I'm not mistaken, it was Casino Grand Bay, but it doesn't really matter. Anyway, specifically for the free spins, I visited their website, checked through their T&Cs as usual, found them in order, then finally signed up. True enough, I encountered no problems at all and I could play the free spins just by clicking on the game itself.
I can't recall if it was just 10 free spins, or 15, or more, because the events of the day didn't make any impression on me at all, sadly enough. This relatively new Zodiac game has nice contemporary graphics, with all the 12 zodiac signs symbols nicely presented, and I was required to pick on my zodiac sign before starting the game. The reason for this is simple. The picked zodiac sign will be the preferred symbol in the game, meaning, it will be the highest paying zodiac symbol out of the 12 signs, paying 2000x the line bet for 5 of them, as compared to just 400x the line bet for all the other 11 signs. The Wild symbol doesn't pay anything for itself, what a big letdown, but doubles all wins with it, and substitutes for other symbols except for the Scatter symbol. 5 of the Scatter symbols pay 50x the total bet, which is very low, and getting 3, 4 or 5 of them awards 4, 6 or 8 free spins with all wins doubled. Even though the Free Spins game can be retriggered, I don't think that would make much difference to the size of the possible payouts when the paytable has very very low provisions. Furthermore, there are no other special feature games to be had, with no exciting Expanding or Stacked Wilds either, making this Zodiac game a very simple, a very straightforward, and a very boring game!
Playing the game said it all. No need for any prolonged gameplay to know how the game plays and pays. With such a very low paytable, with Wilds that cannot expand or come stacked, winning chances on this Zodiac game has been greatly reduced. Coupled all that with just 4, 6 or 8 free spins to play, hmm, what sort of good decent payouts can ever be achieved? I wonder. From the free spins that were given to me to try out this new game, it paid me just $1.38, which soon enough went to nothing in a matter of seconds. Oh, okay, in one or two minutes then. I didn't get any Free Spins game, I didn't get any nice win with my zodiac sign, and I didn't get any nice win with any zodiac sign either. Heck, in fact, I didn't win at all, but that's not surprising, playing with just a few free spins. Maybe decent wins can be had with more game plays, but I wasn't about to do that. Not for now anyway.
