Although now is not the time to celebrate Chinese new year, but I still have strong interest to get a try of this Chinese New Year slot game. I find out that each of the animals in the Chinese calendar is represented on the reels with a cartoon style headshot. They truly have some top design talent as it looks stunning. Things like this really do make me want to play a game to find out what it's like. For many Chinese, as well as myself ,we like to gamble during Chinese new year and now it is time to have a 'gamble' option. Additionally,I like the free spins round very much as the free spins round on Chinese New Year is really nice to get. This what I really want to feel when playing slot games, you will have that kind of feel good sensation. I think it is great. The Chinese New Year has 15 payline, which is similarly designed as other slots which are nicely balanced. There is a good number of high paying symbols to balance out the lower paying ones and even the smallest possible three of a kind win is OK. You just imagine it is just 5 coins, which is fair enough for a 15 line game. Actually I have nothing to complain about here.

Furthermore, the free spins round that I mentioned earlier is well thought out but it does not give outstanding wins. The spinning Gong that determines which symbol is the extra scatter and how many free spins you get is exceptionally well animated, though. You can expect 10-20 free spins on average. In this round, the appearance of the extra scatter is critical to bigger win sizes. My best record of play in this Chinese New Year slot game is 692 coins off 10 free spins, which is not too bad from my point of view. The most unforgettable part is the 3 Dragon symbols which give you the option to fire up to 5 rockets to create a New Year's firework display. Each rocket chosen awards a prize and if one of the rockets misfire then you will miss the chance already because it means your round is ended. Then, the animation in this round is excellent, and the 150x bet size prize is quite convincing.

As a conclusion ,I think that Chinese New year is aimed squarely at low rollers and that's just fine with me. I fully hope that this can be a sleeper hit for those casinos that offer the game. Overall ,it is a slot I can see myself coming back to from time to time, thinking how great I have spent my leisure time on this Chinese New Year.

Chinese New Year is a slot with 30 paylines which although has everything it takes to be a good one, its quality is rather average towards poor. The theme is that of the Chinese toys and playing it I felt like a kid again (I nostalgically remember that 40 years ago, who had a Chinese toy was a very important person in the eyes of his friends).

As regarding its graphic presentation, the game is a combination between a 2D slot and 3D one having two animated characters on its sides (a Panda who lights fireworks to the right and a Chinese dragon to the left). As I said this slot has all it takes to be a good game. The „Wild“ symbols are frequent, and as often they form winning combinations between 3 to 5 symbols (still it is true that 5 symbols aligned are still rare). There is a special symbol „Extra Cash“which when displayed at least 3 times on the reels, it offers an instant extra amount of money, ranging from very small to quite a bit (30 cents - 3 Euro). This „Extra Cash“ is offered also quite often, about once every 25 to 30 normal spins. In addition, it exists here also the „Free Spins“ round triggered by 3 „Bonus Game" symbols („the Firework“) about once every 100 spins and which is accompanied by a multiplier. These „Free Spins“ are equally welcome, bringing with them a random amount between a few dozen cents to a few Euro. Moreover, the game shows a „Double Up“ feature that can be played up to collect, up to an incorrect choice or up to 10 times.

However , with all these features presentas I said the slot is poor in my opinion. And this is due to the fact that the average amount paid when two symbols are aligned is only 5 cents and for three symbols aligned the payout is generally only 20 cents. These amounts are offered at a total bet of 30 cents, which means an overall loss of about 20-25 cents on each spin. I after I played 200 spins here I was having a loss of 25 Euro although I was offered „Free Cash“ at least 5 times and „Free Spins“ twice.

If you like Chinese things it is worth to play 20-30 spins here, but only so much. Otherwise you will lose quite a lot of money at this slot.
