Safer Gambling Week 2023 Stats Reveal an Increase in Responsible Gambling Tools Use

Following the most successful Safer Gambling Week to date, which was held between 13 and 19 November 2023, Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has released stats that confirm just how fruitful the initiative was. Namely, according to their research, the number of British players who use Responsible Gambling tools increased significantly during Safer Gambling Week 2023.

A Look Back on Safer Gambling Week 2023

Safer Gambling Week is a joint initiative by the BGC, British Amusement Catering Trade Association (Bacta), and the Bingo Association. The purpose of Safer Gambling Week is to raise awareness and promote Responsible Gambling to players.

The report says that during Safer Gambling Week 2023, they saw an 18% increase in deposit limits set and even 300% increase in both reality checks and maximum stake limits set.

Ahead of Safer Gambling Week 2024

As the preparations for Safer Gambling Week 2024 are already well underway, BGC CEO and acting chair Michael Dugher has shared:

“These new figures show Safer Gambling Week continues to be a powerful advert for increasing use of safer gambling tools in the regulated industry.

“Our members promote these tools all year round. However, a single dedicated week, bringing together the whole sector alongside huge support from cross-party MPs, from the government and the independent regulator the Gambling Commission, really turbocharges that work – and these figures show it makes a real difference.

“The record numbers for both impressions and use of safer gambling tools show the industry has never been more committed to ensuring the many millions who enjoy a regular flutter continue to do so in a safe and responsible environment.”

Safer Gambling Week 2024 will be held between 18 and 24 November.
