Star Clusters is a game from Big Time Gaming that was released a while ago. I was quite interested in trying this game because at the time I had seen a lot of other players hitting big wins on it. Also, I really like Big Time Gaming games and this was one of the first of their Mega Clusters mechanic games.Â
The game itself has quite a classic theme and it includes wild symbols and different color gems. To be honest, when I first tried this game, it took me a moment to understand what's going on. As the game has clusters mechanic and there's no set of paylines. However, after a little bit of playing this game I figured it out.
In the base game and all throughout the game, the most important thing is consecutive wins. In the base game, once you get 5 consecutive wins, that's how you trigger the free spins. I have mixed feelings about it though. From one side I like the fact that you don't need scatter symbols to trigger the bonus round. But on the other hand, it's quite difficult to get 5 consecutive wins. But more importantly, for 5 consecutive wins, you only get 2 free spins. However, if you get more than 5 consecutive wins triggering the feature, you get additional free spins. That being said, in my experience, I'd mostly get 2 free spins or at best 5.Â
In the free spins, what you'll want to see are two things- gold multipliers and consecutive wins and at best- them both together.. For every win that's with gold multipliers, the winning multiplier will increase. Also, the grid inthe free spins is expanded, which helps getting more winning combinations. As I said, consecutive wins with gold multipliers are key- once you've reached the 10x multiplier, you get 2 more free spins. And that's why you really want to get as many wins in base game as possible- to get a higher amount of free spins and a higher start multiplier (as it carries over from base game, where you trigger it). That being said, I think only once I managed to get to 10x multiplier and the spins ended up being dead spins. But I do appreciate the chase element and this game definitely has good winning potential.
Overall, I do enjoy this game and it has great design. However, the free spins feature is very volatile and for the most part you get low return. Also, sometimes it can take a while to get the free spins and it can be frustrating to have a bonus feature with only 2 free spins. My best win on this game was around 200x bet so it definitely has potential to pay more, but it's a really volatile game.
