Rainbow Riches Slot Overview

Hope to benefit from a bit of ‘luck of the Irish’ in the Rainbow Riches slot, a 5 reel, 20 payline iconic game from Barcrest. Hugely popular in live casinos, arcades and betting shops throughout the land since its launch in 2009, it’s become a firm favourite with online slots players too. The game comes with 3 bonus features. You’ll find a trail bonus, a pick me round and a spin the wheel feature. With an RTP of 95% and 500 x bet max wins, find out more in our detailed Rainbow Riches review.

Rainbow Riches Details, RTP, Payout and Volatility

The gameplay in the Rainbow Riches slot is very simple as the action plays out on 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 paylines. Create winning combinations by landing 2 or sometimes 3 or more matching symbols from left to right across a payline, starting from the leftmost reel (i.e. reel 1).

You can join the lucky leprechaun at bet levels of between $/£/€0.20 and $/£/€500 per spin. Use the + and – buttons next to the Bet/Line box to adjust your stake size. At some casinos, the maximum bet of $/£/€500 will be reduced to as low as $/£/€10. This varies from casino to casino but new online casinos will offer lower bet levels in general.

In some territories, players can set 5, 25, 50 or 100 auto spins as well as win and loss stop limits. Click on the red button then choose your numbers. This isn’t available to player in the UK though.

The Rainbow Riches RTP is 95% which is on the low side and below the average of 96% for an online slot. 52.01% is for the base game and 41.99% for the bonus features.

With the volatility in the medium range, the hit frequency rate is 27.02%. On average, a winning combination will land every 3.7 spins. In terms of payouts, the Rainbow Riches slot offers max wins of 500 x your total bet.

Rainbow Riches Theme, Audio and Symbols

With an Irish luck theme, the design in the Rainbow Riches slot is simply done. There’s a Celtic-tinge to the visuals, starting with the reels which are edged in a Celtic-style gold. With a purple sky and rainbow in the background, the visuals do look dated but this iconic slot game was released way back in 2009.

There’s a harp style sound that accompanies each spin. Otherwise, it’s all rather understated in the base game. The sound really ramps up during the features though, especially the Road to Riches which gets the full on ‘top o’ the morning’ diddly dee treatment.

The reels are made up of A to 10 royals and a Rainbow Riches logo which is the most rewarding standard symbol. Land 5 of these on a payline for a payout of 12.5 x your total bet.

The gold coin symbol is the wild. This can land on all 5 reels and substitute for all the standard symbols when it makes up part of a winning combination. Land 5 wilds across a payline and you’ll pocket an award equal to 25 x your total bet.

There are 3 other symbols. The Leprechaun, the Wishing Well and the Pots of Gold. These don’t offer any payouts in their own right but they can trigger their associated bonus feature. Here’s what the symbols pay:

  • 10: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 0.5 or 5 x bet
  • J: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 0.5 or 5 x bet
  • Q: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 0.5 or 5 x bet
  • K: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 2.5 or 7.5 x bet
  • A: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 2.5 or 7.5 x bet
  • Logo: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 2.5, 7.5 or 12.5 x bet
  • Wild: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 3, 10 or 25 x bet
  • Leprechaun: 3+ triggers Road to Riches Bonus
  • Wishing Well: 3+ triggers Wishing Wheel Bonus
  • Pots of Gold: 3+ triggers Pots of Gold Bonus

Rainbow Riches Mobile

Barcrest has created a Rainbow Riches mobile version which is available on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. The simple design and straightforward gameplay make this slot well suited to playing at mobile casino sites. It’s also available, of course, to play on laptop and PC devices.

Rainbow Riches Bonus Features

The feature offering in Rainbow Riches isn’t the most sophisticated you’ll come across. There aren’t any free spins for starters. Instead, you’ll find a trio of classic bonus features which all give you the chance to land the game’s max win.

Road to Riches Bonus

Trigger this cash trail bonus by landing 3 or more Road to Riches scatters (the Leprechaun) anywhere on the reels on the same spin. You’ll then be invited to join the lucky Leprechaun on a journey where there’s a pot of gold waiting at the end.

Click/press to move the spinner which determines how many steps along the trail you’ll advance. The further you go, the bigger the prizes. Keep on rolling until you spin a collect. You’ll then win the multiplier prize you’ve landed on. This is then applied to your total stake to give a final award. The max win here is 500 x your total bet. Finally, this feature hits once every 115 spins on average.

Wishing Well Bonus

Land 3 or more Wishing Well scatters on the same spin to trigger this pick me bonus. Select 1 of the Wishing Well scatters to reveal a multiplier prize. The top win here is 500 x your total bet. On average, the Wishing Well Bonus triggers once every 107 spins.

Pots of Gold Bonus

To trigger the game’s third bonus, you need to land the Pot of Gold symbol on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin. You’ll then see bronze, silver and gold pots start spinning around the screen.

One of these pots is randomly selected. The multiplier prize attached to that pot is the prize you’ll win. And yes, you’ve guessed it, the most you can win here is 500 x you total bet. This feature will be activated every 1,050 spins on average.

Rainbow Riches Slot Verdict

The simple recipe of offer in the Rainbow Riches slot machine has proven to be hugely popular. It’s made the transfer from brick-and-mortar venues to online seamlessly.

Whilst the graphics are dated now, it has that land-based/arcade nostalgic feel many of us of a certain age will appreciate. It’s is an iconic game and probably the most popular amongst UK players in particular.

With no Rainbow Riches free spins, the RTP of 95% is lower than the 96% average and the max win of 500 x bet isn’t exactly something to get excited about. That said, there’s something special about this game with the Rainbow Riches demo being amongst the popular here at AskGamblers.

A slot from Barcrest and based on the lucky Irish theme. This slot comes with 5 reels and 3 rows, and with adjustable 20 paylines. You can of course select your bet per line as well. If you bet all 20 lines with 0.01 then it will only cost you 0.20 and it is recommended to play all 20 lines anyway.

There are three features with the best one being the pots of gold where you can win up to 500x your bet. The other two features are the wishing wells bonus (this one hardly pays anything at all and has always been the lowest paying bonus out of all 3 of them) and the road to riches bonus (can pay good if you get all the way to the end), in the road to riches you have a leprechaun that moves along a path and the further you get the higher your prize is with a potential of reaching the end of the path for the biggest prize of 500x. So while all bonuses are capable of getting the top prize of 500x you most likely get it on the pots of gold.

Having played about a thousand spins on this slot I will say that if you get lucky and hit the pots of gold then you are in for a good win. On my second session I hit the 3 pots and then got the silver pots which paid me 120xBet. The base game too can sometimes bring in some good wins, sometimes 38x, sometimes 21x, anything along those is always good to keep the balance healthy because the slot can eat and will eat overall the longer you play.

Overall I found that a bonus will be triggered about every 50 spins which means you won’t have to wait too long to get some wins via the bonus instead of just relying on the base game.

With an RTP of of only 95% this slot is not for everyone as you probably won’t get much playtime on it. Old style graphics are very outdated and might not appeal to most people.

This is something of a high street favourite game here in the UK, you can find it in the bookmakers shops, which now have a £500 jackpot top prize, as well as small arcades with a maximum £70 win and of course the casinos where you can score a monster £4,000 – all completely eclipsed of course by the on-line versions of the game, some of which will let you bet as much as £100 per spin. Or maybe even more!

Interestingly though, there are various on-line interpretations of the game as well – for example not all have the “pots” feature, which usually have a constantly increasing value when played in live environments, but on-line where they are available these prizes are usually set to fairly consistent values, with a gold pot awarding the £500 “jackpot” (depending on the size of your spin of course), and the silver and bronze often varying slightly between £100 - £250 and £50 - £100 respectively. Also, the “road to riches” bonus sometimes features multiples of your bet whereas others its fixed £ values. It’s really quite unlike pretty much any other on-line game I am familiar with where things seem to be just set in stone, though I think really its just Barcrest making several different versions available and casinos opting for the one they like the look of the final RTP settings on the best. The one shown on the AskGamblers page above is definitely one of the lower paying versions with just x 200 of your bet at the end of the road – certainly not what I would call a “jackpot”!!

The lines are really quite different to other games I play a lot as well, though I suspect this is, again, just a Barcrest thing. Payouts during the base game are quite poor, apart from when you get a whole lot of the “Rainbow Riches” logo symbol onscreen, though frustratingly these are not wilds, which has had my fuming at times when I’ve had full stacks of them on four reels and nothing connecting on the other one!!

It’s quite a fun game, but I don’t think I’ll ever get rich playing it on-line – it's simply too low variance for my tastes I think, whereas out in the bookmakers at 50p a spin I’m really quite happy to walk away with £100 on a good day, on-line I guess I have just been spoiled by games capable of paying out 1000 xs of times your stake!

This is the first time I play a slot created by the company "Barcrest Games" and I have no regrets for having done, and although I usually do not normally play games about leprechauns, I feel it has enough ingredients to captivate me.

"Rainbow Reaches" is a traditional 5-reel slot machine with 20 paylines, with levels bet to choose between $ 0.01 and $ 20 per line, colorful and cheerful and full of special features, where the real interest generated by this game lies.

Standard symbols are the icon with the logo of the game and major poker cards characters, 10, J, Q, K and A. The special symbols are wild, represented with a gold coin and serves as substitute of standard symbols, and scattered symbols as follows: face of leprechaun, wishing well, and the pot of gold under a rainbow.

- 3 leprechauns activate the road to riches, where spinning a wheel of fortune, the player determines how many steps he will advance on the road, and each step corresponds determined multiplier to calculate the prize. The more you progress achieved higher the award; the highest goal to reach is a pot full of gold.
- 3 wishing wells activate an instant cash bonus calculated with the corresponding multiplier shown by the randomly chosen well.
- 3 pots of gold, available only on reels 2, 3, and 4, take you to a screen where a leprechaun spins pots of gold with different multipliers each and it is your luck who decides the prize you win when it stops. It is the most difficult feature to trigger, but the lower prize available here is gratifying enough, to my view.

I played this slot in demo mode but I enjoyed it as if it were in a real account. It started normally, when suddenly and during my first 20 turns, I got my first round of road to riches and 2 spins later again the same feature, in both, I got a multiplier higher than 24 x, and I think it was a great start even though my initial bet was only $ 0.01. After a while, but before my balance drop to the initial value, for the first time I got a wishing well bonus and about 10 spins later I repeated this feature; the first time I got the highest prize and the second the lowest one, both also with a $ 0.01 bet. After that I was a long time without triggering more bonus rounds, even I started to raise my bet gradually. Spins go by and my balance was almost $ 25 under the starting value, and I decided to increase my bet again, this time to $ 0.10 per line and that was magical, after just 2 turns appeared 3 pots of gold and I got the second lower prize which was 120 x, enough to leave the game with a net profit of more than $ 100.

I was left with a huge desire to play in a real account this fabulous game, since apparently Sky Vegas is the only casino using this software and then find out and it does not accept players from many countries, including the mine one. It's a shame, but I hope many of you can enjoy it in case you are allowed to register at the casino mentioned above.
