Rainbow Riches Slot Overview

Hugely popular in live casinos, arcades and betting shops throughout the land since its launch in 2009, it’s become a firm favourite with online slots players too. The game comes with 3 bonus features. You’ll find a trail bonus, a pick me round and a spin the wheel feature. With an RTP of 95% and 500 x bet max wins, find out more in our detailed Rainbow Riches review.
Rainbow Riches Details, RTP, Payout and Volatility
The gameplay in the Rainbow Riches slot is very simple as the action plays out on 5 reels, 3 rows and 20 paylines. Create winning combinations by landing 2 or sometimes 3 or more matching symbols from left to right across a payline, starting from the leftmost reel (i.e. reel 1).
You can join the lucky leprechaun at bet levels of between $/£/€0.20 and $/£/€500 per spin. Use the + and – buttons next to the Bet/Line box to adjust your stake size. At some casinos, the maximum bet of $/£/€500 will be reduced to as low as $/£/€10. This varies from casino to casino but new online casinos will offer lower bet levels in general.
In some territories, players can set 5, 25, 50 or 100 auto spins as well as win and loss stop limits. Click on the red button then choose your numbers. This isn’t available to player in the UK though.
The Rainbow Riches RTP is 95% which is on the low side and below the average of 96% for an online slot. 52.01% is for the base game and 41.99% for the bonus features.
With the volatility in the medium range, the hit frequency rate is 27.02%. On average, a winning combination will land every 3.7 spins. In terms of payouts, the Rainbow Riches slot offers max wins of 500 x your total bet.
Rainbow Riches Theme, Audio and Symbols
With an Irish luck theme, the design in the Rainbow Riches slot is simply done. There’s a Celtic-tinge to the visuals, starting with the reels which are edged in a Celtic-style gold. With a purple sky and rainbow in the background, the visuals do look dated but this iconic slot game was released way back in 2009.
There’s a harp style sound that accompanies each spin. Otherwise, it’s all rather understated in the base game. The sound really ramps up during the features though, especially the Road to Riches which gets the full on ‘top o’ the morning’ diddly dee treatment.
The reels are made up of A to 10 royals and a Rainbow Riches logo which is the most rewarding standard symbol. Land 5 of these on a payline for a payout of 12.5 x your total bet.
The gold coin symbol is the wild. This can land on all 5 reels and substitute for all the standard symbols when it makes up part of a winning combination. Land 5 wilds across a payline and you’ll pocket an award equal to 25 x your total bet.
There are 3 other symbols. The Leprechaun, the Wishing Well and the Pots of Gold. These don’t offer any payouts in their own right but they can trigger their associated bonus feature. Here’s what the symbols pay:
- 10: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 0.5 or 5 x bet
- J: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 0.5 or 5 x bet
- Q: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 0.5 or 5 x bet
- K: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 2.5 or 7.5 x bet
- A: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.25, 2.5 or 7.5 x bet
- Logo: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 2.5, 7.5 or 12.5 x bet
- Wild: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 3, 10 or 25 x bet
- Leprechaun: 3+ triggers Road to Riches Bonus
- Wishing Well: 3+ triggers Wishing Wheel Bonus
- Pots of Gold: 3+ triggers Pots of Gold Bonus
Rainbow Riches Mobile
Barcrest has created a Rainbow Riches mobile version which is available on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. The simple design and straightforward gameplay make this slot well suited to playing at mobile casino sites. It’s also available, of course, to play on laptop and PC devices.
Rainbow Riches Bonus Features
The feature offering in Rainbow Riches isn’t the most sophisticated you’ll come across. There aren’t any free spins for starters. Instead, you’ll find a trio of classic bonus features which all give you the chance to land the game’s max win.
Road to Riches Bonus
Trigger this cash trail bonus by landing 3 or more Road to Riches scatters (the Leprechaun) anywhere on the reels on the same spin. You’ll then be invited to join the lucky Leprechaun on a journey where there’s a pot of gold waiting at the end.
Click/press to move the spinner which determines how many steps along the trail you’ll advance. The further you go, the bigger the prizes. Keep on rolling until you spin a collect. You’ll then win the multiplier prize you’ve landed on. This is then applied to your total stake to give a final award. The max win here is 500 x your total bet. Finally, this feature hits once every 115 spins on average.
Wishing Well Bonus
Land 3 or more Wishing Well scatters on the same spin to trigger this pick me bonus. Select 1 of the Wishing Well scatters to reveal a multiplier prize. The top win here is 500 x your total bet. On average, the Wishing Well Bonus triggers once every 107 spins.
Pots of Gold Bonus
To trigger the game’s third bonus, you need to land the Pot of Gold symbol on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin. You’ll then see bronze, silver and gold pots start spinning around the screen.
One of these pots is randomly selected. The multiplier prize attached to that pot is the prize you’ll win. And yes, you’ve guessed it, the most you can win here is 500 x you total bet. This feature will be activated every 1,050 spins on average.
Rainbow Riches Slot Verdict
The simple recipe of offer in the Rainbow Riches slot machine has proven to be hugely popular. It’s made the transfer from brick-and-mortar venues to online seamlessly.
Whilst the graphics are dated now, it has that land-based/arcade nostalgic feel many of us of a certain age will appreciate. It’s is an iconic game and probably the most popular amongst UK players in particular.
With no Rainbow Riches free spins, the RTP of 95% is lower than the 96% average and the max win of 500 x bet isn’t exactly something to get excited about. That said, there’s something special about this game with the Rainbow Riches demo being amongst the popular here at AskGamblers.
