BGaming has decided to treat players to some colourful potion-making action with its Potion Spells video slot game. Potion vials, eyes, purple feathers, red mushrooms, and frogs - you can find all that in these refilling reels. Potion vial symbols dominate the panel as they come in four different colour variations. Next to the game panel, you can find a boiling cauldron with green liquids that completes the whole potion-making theme. The background music is a bit spooky, just enough to make you wonder when a witch will fly in on her broomstick. But does the witch appear? Read our Potion Spells slot review to find out.
Overview of Potion Spells Game
BGaming has not disappointed its fans yet again with this magical 7x7 online slot game that features quite a few ways to win. When you spin the reels, you need to get five matching symbols horizontally or vertically in a cluster in order to win. If your spin is unsuccessful, you may get a Second Chance that randomly adds wild symbols.
The cauldron on the right, with four flasks above it, is your Progress Bar that counts the winning symbols in a single spin. The great thing about this BGaming slot is that it has the Cascading Wins feature that removes the winning symbols to allow new ones to take their place and potentially dorm new winning combinations.
Potion Spells Game Characteristics
As we mentioned before, there are eight different symbols, and they are divided into lower-paying and higher-paying symbols. Lower-paying symbols are red, green, purple and blue potion vials. Blue and purple vial symbols are the lowest-paying ones, with a 5-symbol cluster being worth 0.10x the bet and a 15+ cluster 3x the bet. Green and red vials are worth a maximum of 10x the bet. Higher paying symbols, eye, feather, mushroom and frog, award a maximum of 75, 150, 300, and 750x the stake, respectively.
Potion Spells slot is a very volatile game with a maximum win of 12,000x the bet and an RTP of 96.25%. If you use the Buy Bonus feature, the Potion Spells RTP becomes 96.02%. Your bet can range between €0.20 and €20.00, and you can select up to 1000 automatic spins or choose the option of the indefinite number of spins. Note that you can stop this feature anytime if you change your mind.
Potion Spells Bonus Features
BGaming has packed this slot with bonus features! Apart from the Cascading Wins and Second Chance features, there is also a Backlit Symbol feature that appears randomly to light the low symbols. If these backlit symbols form a winning combo, when they disappear from the grid, two wild symbols appear that can form new wins.
Another cool feature is the Big Symbol which forms when four identical symbols drop in the form of a 2x2 square. If the Big Symbol becomes a part of the winning cluster, it doubles the winning. Let’s look at some more features Potion Spells has to offer.
Wild Symbol Feature
The Wild Symbol appears as a golden letter W, and it substitutes any winning symbol. The Progress Bar's four additional features don’t affect the Wild Symbol.
Progress Bar Feature
As we already mentioned, the Progress Bar counts the winning symbols per spin and adds the points to the four flasks above the cauldron, each containing up to 25 points. Every 25 symbols or points fill a flask that spills into the cauldron and triggers a random additional feature:
Detonation: Between three and six symbols become Wild Symbols, each then destroying four symbols around it without payment.
Reduction: Destroys all low symbols without payment.
Separation: A Wild Symbol appears at the centre of the grid and transforms all the symbols that diagonally go to the corners into randomly chosen identical symbols. If there are Wild Symbols along the changing route, they remain as they were.
Promotion: Replaces all tiles with a randomly chosen symbol with another symbol.
The Progress Bar counts backwards from 100, and if it comes to 0, it activates the Safe feature.
The Pot Feature
This feature starts when Progress Bar reaches 0 and activates the Safe feature. A huge 3x3 Wild Symbol appears, which in the second refill splits into two 2x2 Wilds, and eventually into nine individual Wild Symbols.
Buy Bonus Feature
Players have the option of buying a Buy Bonus Feature that costs 100x the stake. The Bonus feature is actually the same as the Safe or the Pot Feature.

Summary of Potion Spells - Brewing a Magical Adventure
So, we have to disappoint you - there is no witch, unfortunately, but Potion Spells is still action-packed and brings plenty of excitement to its players. It boasts so many bonus features that make it particularly attractive to players that enjoy unique in-game details.
Even though the game is highly volatile, players who prefer high stakes might not like the fact that the highest amount they can bet in this BGaming slot is set at €20. If that, however, is not a problem for you, you can go ahead and try the Potion Spells demo version for fun, or you can head to a BGaming online casino of your choice to try your luck.
The overall game is great. It's one of my favorites but I rarely play because the the bonus feature does not always drop the potions as it should based on the rules.
The rules state that a potion should drop every 25 symbols won from lining them up in the correct order and the subsequent tumble feature. I have provided many screenshots where the potions did not drop atfter 25, 50, 75, and 100 symbols had been won. I never was given an adequate answer nor were the rules changed. I play this game on but Starz.
