Madder Scientist is a 30-payline video slot operating on the Betsoft software platform. The Switch symbol is wild and the scatter Bonus symbol is the Carrot. Players can try the slot on this page for free or visit any of the Betsoft casinos found in the listings to play the game for real money.
Prior to joining the scientist in his secret quarters, players need to decide on their bet. The “Choose Coin” button alters the coin size, which ranges from 0.02 to 1. “Select Lines” selects the number of paylines played, while “Bet Per Line” modifies the number of coins bet. “Spin” turns the reels, “Max Bet Spin” spins them at the highest bet and “Autoplay” lets players play the game for a preset number of times without being interrupted.
After each spin, players can decide to re-spin any of the 5 reels for an additional chance of winning. The re-spins cost additional credits.
3 Beaker symbols emerging on reels 1, 3 and 5 activate the Click Me feature. Players then need to select a beaker in order to uncover their prize. They can continue to select beakers until the word “Collect” appears.
When 3 Switch symbols appear on the reels, the Wild Switches are triggered. In this feature, 1 of the 5 reels will be chosen arbitrarily to turn wild for a preset number of spins.
The Bonus round starts when 3 or more Carrot icons appear on the reels. During the Bonus round, players need to help the scientist create a new concoction which he will then test on the carrot.

What can be better than a mad scientist? A madder scientist of course. So, did the first mad scientist gave me any good results to make me happy? Nope, that mad scientist only got me mad as well! Okay, so perhaps this madder scientist can give better results and make me happier? What, are you nuts? It only made me madder! Hahaha. Well, that sums up what this sequel game did to me. I was hoping for better wins, none appeared. I was hoping for better win potentials, none could be delivered. In fact, the paytable became even lower! What the argh!
From 20 paylines, this madder game now plays with 30 paylines, with the same selectable lines to play, but some things got thrown out the blardy window! What things? Well, the Wild symbol is one of them. There isn't any Wild symbol appearing on the reels, not until all 3 of the Switch Scatter symbols appear anywhere on the reels, to turn one random reel into a full Wild Reel for a random number of next spins. Nope, the spins are not free spins! Each spin still eats your credits, like it or not! That Wild Reel is there only to give additional winning chances, that's all. What the argh! The Beaker is the Bonus symbol, appearing only on reels 1, 3 and 5, and just like that Switch symbol, this Beaker symbol is just as dumb! Getting all 3 symbols on the reels trigger a 'Click Me' feature game. Another "argh" from me. Keep picking on one Beaker symbol at a time to win an instant cash prize, but getting a 'Collect' icon ends the game.
The Carrot is yet another dumb Bonus symbol, and getting 3 or more of them anywhere on the reels trigger another 'Pick Me' feature game. Argh! This time, pick 2 bottles out of 6 to mix a concoction to turn the carrot into gold. A reward is given for turning the carrot into Bronze, Silver or Gold. I managed to turn it into gold in one of my sessions, but that gold paid me only 16x my bet amount. Hmm, so much for getting gold that! As for the other symbols, the Scientist pays 500 credits, the Lady Assistant also pays 500 credits, the Rabbit pays 400 credits, and the rest pay from 300 to 40 credits, all for getting 5 of each kind. An even lower paytable than that of Mad Scientist game.
In the base game, after each spin, each individual reel can be respun for another try to make a win, or a better win, but each respin on each reel has a cost to be paid. When I was playing this game for the first time, 1 or 2 years ago, I was excited at the possibility of respinning any reel that I want to try and make a win. I certainly gave it many tries, getting some wins, but losing a lot lot more. If you're not careful, you may even lose all of your credits in record time! This Respin feature is a real killer, to be very honest, even though a few good nice wins and some feature games can be won at the right times. Only use this feature with extreme caution!
Well, this newer Madder Scientist game certainly came with some changes from the original, but the way I see it, those changes made no difference at all to the game's winning potentials. In fact, the highest symbol value had been cut by half, further reducing the chances for decent wins. Remember, I said decent wins, not good wins. My best win after several sessions on this game, was and still is, only 18x my bet amount. Can you believe that? Sheesh!
