After a rather surprisingly good first play on Red Tiger’s Fortune Charm game, I next turned to Fortune Fest, also by Red Tiger, having a similar theme, but having a totally different game concept. I like the standard 5 reels 3 rows format, I like the minimal $0.10 bet per spin, but that is about all the good things that Fortune Fest has to offer.
Most players don’t even bother to look at a game’s paytable before playing, so leaving everything to chance and luck. No, not me, never me. The paytable is the backbone of any game. It defines how the game is structured, how it should play and pay, and it can actually tell a discerning player if the game should play and pay well, or otherwise. Well, the paytable is quite horrible, if I may say so, because the win values of all the symbols are very low for a 10 lines game, and there isn’t any multiplier to boost up the wins in the base game. Yes, free spins do have multipliers, from 1x up to 10x, but most of the times, the pointer would only land on the 1x or 2x multiplier.
There is also another feature, the PickWin, activated whenever a Red Packet symbol lands anywhere on the reels. This symbol is also non-paying, but triggers a pick-me bonus game, awarding a win multiplier of the staked amount, from 1x up to 88x, and also with a Pick-again icon. The picking stops when the multiplier doesn’t show this pick-again icon. Honestly speaking, I have never liked this kind of bonus game, as it very rarely could give any good wins.
The Free Spins scatter symbol is also non-paying, that sucks, but triggers the free spins feature game. When triggered, a fireworks display ensues, exploding a number of spins to be awarded, but on most times, this number would only be 6, so yet again, one more aspect that sucks! 6 free spins with the pointer always landing on the 1x or 2x multiplier? Be prepared for a disappointing payout, that’s all I can say! Landing the pointer on the Bonus symbol would award additional free spins, again from that fireworks display, but yet again, most of the additional free spins would only be dead ones.
I gave this game well over 1000 spins, just to ensure that I wouldn’t be judging the game wrongly, but from the various payouts that I had gotten from both the PickWin and Free Spins feature games, I can safely say that Fortune Fest is one horrible game to play! Trying to get a simple 50x win proved to be so tedious and difficult, no thanks to the very low win values of all the symbols, and the free spins also proved to be very disappointing as well. I wouldn’t even want to give this game any more play, that’s for sure!
