Why is UEFA Europa League Betting So Popular

The Europa League is one of the most prestigious football leagues, ranked just one place below the UEFA Champions League. It started in 1971 and has grown in popularity ever since, but also updated its format several times, making it as exciting as ever.

When you visit one of the Europa League betting sites listed on this page, you’ll find plenty of matches to bet on as well as various markets. This is what attracts the bettors the most. Since this is a football league, you can expect all the fun markets and excitement that comes with betting on this sport.

But, on top of that, you’ve also got many months of betting in front of you, leading you to a whole journey where you’ll cheer for the teams and their players while planning and updating your betting strategy along the way. The format of this league and its stages, even being a few weeks apart from each other, will keep you on the edge of your seat. There are only a few leagues that match the Europa League in terms of pure thrill.

How We Chose The Best Europa League Betting Sites

We’re dedicated to finding the most lucrative Europa League betting offers and the best sportsbooks on the market where you can bet on this competition.

Obviously, the bookmakers had to include Europa League betting odds on their sites to even get included on this list. We also look at several very specific features of each sportsbook to determine whether they’re worthy of our recommendation.

Free Bets, Bonuses, And Other Welcome Promotions

Most, if not all bookmakers offer some promotions and bonuses to their customers as an incentive for signing up or continue playing regularly. These are typically bonuses that boost your initial deposit or award free bets. We look beyond that, for any exclusives and bonuses related to the Europa League. These can be boosted odds for these matches, free bets, or other incentives for players to bet on the Europa League.

Security, Trustworthiness, And Customer Support

We only recommend betting sites that employ security measures to protect their customers’ data, from SSL certificates to 2FA and similar tools. They also need to have valid, active licenses, allowing them to operate in international markets. Licenses like UKGC, Curacao, and PAGCOR are the most common today, providing legitimacy to the sites and reassuring players that these sportsbooks are safe and fair.

Finally, bookmakers that provide 24/7 support for outright Europa League betting or any other feature of the sportsbook will be ranked higher than those that lack in the support department.

Payment Methods

You can’t start betting on sports competitions before you load up your account with some funds. It’s great to have as many options for depositing and withdrawing as possible at online sportsbooks. For us, the best sites for Europa League betting offer payments via debit/credit cards, wire transfers, various e-wallets, and other payment services. The more - the better!

Europa League Betting Tips

Compared to, say, betting on the FA Cup, Europa League betting is more dynamic. So, here are some tips to get you started:

  • Familiarize yourself with the Europa League format: The league’s format has gone through some changes in recent years and knowing how each stage works, the dates of matches, and how it affects the teams can help you make better predictions.
  • Read predictions from tipsters: If you’re undecided on what to bet on, reading up on tipsters’ predictions can help you make an informed decision.
  • Try some safe bets: Statistically speaking, some teams have a better chance of taking home that trophy. Sevilla FC has won the league six times, while Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Liverpool won three times so far.
  • Grab the best odds on time: Keep an eye out for when the bookies publish their betting odds for the Europa League and try to place your wagers the moment the betting lines are open. This way you get guaranteed best odds, especially if the site offers dynamic odds adjustment.
  • Head-to-head records are important: Examine previous matches between teams, their rivalries, and whether your chosen team performs particularly well when playing home or away. You can use our Live Scores page to help you with that and with tracking the development of your bet

Europa League Betting Markets

Similar to other big football events like Premier League betting, the UEFA Europa League is packed with some amazing and exciting betting opportunities. Even before the kickoff of the first match, you’ll find plenty of bookies offering Europa League outright betting, letting you play a long game of predicting who’ll take the league trophy.

If you prefer playing on a more granular level, especially if you enjoy some live betting, there are plenty of markets there, too, most notably over/under bets, totals, and the moneyline. In short, it is everything you already expect from football events.

Of course, the big event is the final match held in May. The UEFA Europa League final betting is a huge deal for online sportsbooks and, as the matchday nears, you’ll be able to grab some great offers and odds on this match at your favourite bookmakers.

There is also a competition-specific bet you can make, the Golden Boot award that goes to the top goalscorer. So, if a player continuously plays exceptionally well and scores plenty of goals, it’s a good idea to bet on him in this outright market.

How the Europa League Works

The UEFA Europa League is a long and tough competition, ranked the second highest in prestige, just below the UEFA Champions League. It sees football clubs compete in several stages, from qualifiers through the league stage and the final knockout tournament.

From 2024, though, the dynamics of UEFA Europa League football betting have slightly changed, as the league has updated its format to accommodate more teams in the competition.

There are 36 teams in the league stage and they earn their spot in the league through three rounds of qualifying matches and a short play-off round. Each team plays against eight different teams (instead of four in previous leagues), with four matches played at the home and the other four at the away turf.

Then, the top 8 immediately advance to the Round of 16, while teams ranked from the 9th to the 24th place compete in the knockout round while trying to secure their places in the rest of the competition.

Once the league gets to the Round of 16 stage, it’s all or nothing for the teams, with a straight knockout when a team loses a match. This all, qualifiers and finals, lasts from mid-July to late May, providing fans with non-stop football excitement.

Notable Dates and Events

The UEFA Europa League officially starts in late September, after several qualifying rounds have concluded during the summer. Matchdays go all through January, with a couple of weeks in between each other:

  • Matchday 2: 3 October 2024
  • Matchday 3: 24 October 2024
  • Matchday 4: 7 November 2024
