The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) announced that Safer Gambling Week 2022 will be held from 17-23 October, an event intended to highlight the regulated industry’s commitment to safer gambling. According to the BGC, this year’s event will convey a "blitz of safer gambling messages."
The Fifth Safer Gambling Week
Taking place between 17-23 October, Safer Gambling Week 2022 will see the BGC and its partners, Bacta, the Lotteries Council and the Bingo Association commit to “build on last year’s success.”
The four organisations highlighted achievements from 2021, such as the number of social media impressions which increased during the week by 16% to reach 24.5 million, and sessions on safer gambling websites, which accounted for a 79% increase compared to 2020.
"Safer Gambling Week is now an established annual event," said Chief Executive of the BGC, Michael Dugher.
"We know that rates of problem gambling are low and are now falling, which is great news, but Safer Gambling Week is further evidence of the regulated industry’s determination to keep raising standards,” Dugher noted.
As promised by organisers, the event will include "a blitz of safer gambling messages," both online and in brick-and-mortar venues, which they say they hope will "spark a nationwide conversation" about betting responsibly.
