GamCare, one of the UK's most prominent gambling harm charities, announced the launch of an online support group for women impacted by people around them who gamble.
The launch of the "semi-structured" support group Way Forward coincided with the start of Safer Gambling Week 2022.
Way Forward - Every Tuesday on Zoom
According to GamCare, online groups dubbed Way Forward is scheduled every Tuesday 11 am-12:30 pm via Zoom. The group will be in session for six weeks, starting on 18 October. They will be run by facilitators with professional experience supporting women impacted by gambling-related harm.
Way Forward, GamCare said, will serve as a safe space for women facing different aspects of gambling-related harms.
The first full session will take place on 1 November and will be dedicated to understanding gambling addictions and their financial implications.
Throughout 18 weeks, attendees will discuss topics such as taking care of themselves, coping with guilt and shame, as well as anger and resentment, and having difficult conversations.
