A new game development company called Black Throne Studios has submitted a patent application with DraftKings, a fantasy sports and betting company.

Delaware-registered, Black Throne Studios will offer "electronic game development services; electronic casino game development services; casino game development services".
However, it isn't clear if this company will be spun out from its core operation or remain an independent subsidiary of DraftKings.
As a significant B2C online gaming company, DraftKings operates a DraftKings Casino, although they have never been a B2B iGaming game developer.
Aiming to broaden its appeal and improve its iGaming offering, the company completed the acquisition of Golden Nugget Online Gaming in May.
It hasn't been very active as a B2C online casino software provider. Nevertheless, it does provide its sportsbook software to third parties. As a result of the acquisition of SBTech, it became an officially listed business under the name Diamond Eagle Acquisition Corp., which now owns the company's entire technology stack.
This year, DraftKings launched in Ontario and introduced iGaming to West Virginia.
